@MrYGuy2 Yeah, Greek tragedy, brutality, chipping away st ones spiritual thst you break him. That's what made the Greek games awesome. But "icon of masculinity"... no.
At least not in the sense of being a moral exemplar. Power fantasy that appeals to the masculine, HELL YEAH.
@RiccardoFacell1 First I'd like you to answer this: are these MAJOR flaws in your opinion, as in movie destroying flaws? Because they dont strike me as flaws that sink the narrative, they seem pretty minor to me. Not nitpicks, but minor.
People say things like "Good animation can't save bad writing" when in fact it's the exact opposite. Everything about this film is kids' movie slop-by-numbers but they had Dan Haskett, Glen Keane & other Disney animators who'd been laid off after Black Cauldron flopped &, well
@amiguello1@Niflheimm155983 Was it anime being paced too slowly that was the problem? Or storytelling things like dialogue, like its very tell dont show, characters vomit out their motives feelings? Because that's usually a sticking point for me. Berserk my fave Manga, but even it had some dialogue likethat
@RoudanskAlamir Ghost of Tsushima (a western developed game) is spared too. It's because being photorealistic does not mean you can't have art direction. Also the yellow paint debate came to a head with RE4R because the photoreal visuals necessitated more obvious signposting.
@RamblingsNerd2@JeanGen09181213 While I do think western devs intentionally make some their fem characters ugly to protest the male gaze, it's also strange to expect fem characters to be highly idealized, unblemished near supermodels in some contexts.
