Imagine investing in a new tunnel but not allowing cycling and investing time n a bus to take bikes and then not putting the bus stop on maps and not putting any signage on any of the cycle routes? #SilvertownTunnel@googlemaps@TerribleMaps@TfL @Sustrans @MayorofLondon
Commuted by bus today because of the rain. There’s nowhere to hang up wet clothes, no changing rooms at Lynton House @RedbridgeLive@RedbridgeCycli1. Took forever to get home, walked half the way.
I knocked on two cars that were in the cycle ASL boxes this evening. One driver threatened to break my f**king fingers and the other to knock on my helmet like that.
Neither of these threats were realistic as their arms simply weren’t long enough 🙄.
I’ll keep on knocking.
Awful news - fatality at Stratford High St/Carpenters Rd, 2pm yesterday (13/1).
A man in 20s cycling, killed at known dangerous junction in collision involving driver maneuvering HGV.
More from LCC & @NewhamCyclists as we find out more.
Our thoughts with friends and family.
@john_w_wilcox@ChaponaBike123 Yes, I did wonder if the wind had blown his car and made it go faster than the speed limit. That would be a likely scenario. The car may even have been flipped by the wind.
There’s a traffic free area in central Ilford but I’m not allowed to cycle down it. Help! Can someone help me find a safe passage from Lynton House @RedbridgeLive to Romford Rd? @RedbridgeCycli1
NB. I have been cycling on roads since 1977 but cannot find a safe route here.
@RantyHighwayman @RedbridgeLive@RedbridgeCycli1 Thanks, it’s this bit that is the worst. The red represents me, travelling at less than 15mph and the yellow represents the cars travelling at approx 40mph to join the A406, some of them might be coming from Mill Road.
Should I cross here to use the footway then cross back?
I find myself screaming 😱 on the routes that I try and can’t figure out which bits are shared use pavement and which are not. Bits marked ‘cycle track’ are used as pavement.
This is what my cycle commute home from work looks like.
See the bike symbol on the road? That’s the cycle lane. Looking forward to the eventual completion of the Romford Road segregated cycle lane. @NewhamLondon@NewhamCyclists
Oh no, this moveable feast road closure in the Stratford Park #LTN has no diversion info for cyclists at the two modal filters. Signage at motor vehicle entry points but most of the people who live here don’t own cars! @thameswater@NewhamLondon
@adamtranter Something that helped me return to cycle commuting was an @EvansCycles newsletter that mentioned something like that London cyclists only get rain during their commute about 12 times per year.
Pleased to here @NewhamLondon is looking at cutting the provision of biscuits for staff. We are facing an obesity crisis and shouldn’t be spending public money on biscuits.🍪
