@huzukimaru5050@japanstartshere@piyococcochan2@dicklp I’ve lived in Japan over 20years and it was never a large population of mask wearers before Covid. The main reason they keep wearing them now (even in summer) is mental illness . So sad , especially poor children 😞
@PaulPay71986062@werrylettuce I’ve lived in Japan for 20years and I can’t tell u it’s nothing to do with “city air “ 😆 Before Covid it was a low % of people but around half the population still wearing to hide face, or cuz of paranoia. Mainly rural areas ironically
@MorticiaBlom @japanstartshere@JAL_Official_jp After 20 years in Japan can’t tell u how nice it is to be in Australia and see faces everywhere I go. Smiles at cafes, reactions, expressions, human interaction…it caused me so much stress seeing masks everywhere for so long. And no, it’s not “good manners” to wear a mask.its BS
@MorticiaBlom My pleasure . I hope u can make it happen asap. In the meantime , try to take it easy and keep yourself healthy .
I truly wish u all the best . Feel free to reach out anytime ;) Take care
@MorticiaBlom I’m sorry to hear about what you’ve been going through.
I ended up leaving Japan and am happily living back in Australia after 20 years of Japan. Can u not consider leaving Japan? It’s not good for mental health 😢
@MorticiaBlom Yep. That’s the problem. No one seems to care. They’ll be wearing them throughout the hot, humid summer as well I expect. If 36 degree heat can’t stop them, I don’t know what will anymore . . insanity continues uninterrupted
@MorticiaBlom You’re right. Seems like foreigners that don’t understand the language or nuances here have nothing but praise for Japan. “Oh, great customer service, friendly people, so polite ! “ etc. When u truly become part of society here and learn the language, everything changes. . .
@MorticiaBlom I remember going crazy last summer when I kept hearing the exact same robotic announcement over the deafening town speakers, every single f***ing day! “ Be careful of high temperatures today, and if you need to take off your mask, make sure you’re a safe distance from others” 🤬
@MorticiaBlom Yep the masks are used as a tool now for psychological purposes . There is no logic , no legitimacy. I’ve even noticed them used to show hierarchy where a boss doesn’t wear a mask but the subordinates do .. it’s disturbing in fact and quite deep
@MorticiaBlom What really worries me is how children of all ages and young adults have been totally programmed into thinking this is all totally normal. It’s like pre 2020 never existed .
A beautiful, warm spring day in Saitama, cherry blossoms still in bloom.
As I walk past a kindergarten, seeing every child running around in the playground, wearing a mask, I am once again, violently reminded that Japan is beyond hope. . .
@MorticiaBlom Yep. Honestly I had some hope before 3/13 but now I realize a few people here and there won’t be enough to change the overall mentality here . They really are happy hiding their faces forever. . and I just can’t be a part of that. I mean it’s obvious it’s not about Covid
@MorticiaBlom Nice to see u back. I think I AM losing my mind! Nothing has changed actually. Cant see people here ever taking off their masks. Seriously considering going back to Australia. It’s just too depressing seeing what’s happened to Japan. And no one will even listen. . .
@HarryOnTwittter Walked past a young woman on the street who covered her face with both hands ( over her mask ) as she walked past me terrified for her life 😂😂😂This isn’t a few isolated people … quite disturbing what this country has become
