It was a great honor to receive the Trainee Research Excellence Award in Basic Science Research for 2026. Thank you to the selection committee, my mentors, and nominators for this award. Congratulations to the other very deserving award recipients!
Congratulations to Dr. Carley Miller (@carley_miller18) for the well-deserved 2025 Dept. of Pharmacology (@CUPharmacology) Norman Weiner Award - Research Excellence by a PhD Student! Pictured with the incomparable Dr. J. David Port
A new review from Dr. Carley Miller (@carley_miller18) on the Sex Differences in the Ventral Subiculum's Microcircuitry and Function is out! Congratulations! https://t.co/heypO9bAbR
New publication from Dr. Carley Miller (@carley_miller18) in a collab with Dr. Kevin Beier, and Chris Li (UCI)! Acute stress triggers sex-specific changes in the ventral subiculum. They’re unexpectedly driven by distinct signaling pathways! Check it out 👉 https://t.co/QD2wAjVZ99
My thesis work from @Aoto_Lab is out! Here, we show that acute stress causes sex-specific adaptations to ventral subiculum synapses and behaviors. Critically, these sex-specific changes were driven by distinct signaling pathways. https://t.co/caBSciAg5j
Congratulations to MSTP student Carley Miller (@carley_miller18) on a truly exceptional PhD defense! A major milestone well earned. Next milestone: completing medical school!
Huge congratulations to Eric G. Stokes (@egstokes7) for his Norman Weiner Student Award for research excellence in the Dept. of Pharmacology (@CUPharmacology@AMCPharmacology)! Eric with a guest appearance by the great Dr. J. David Port.
Interested in graduated school in beautiful Denver, CO to study the molecular/cellular mechanisms in cancer biology and/or the cellular/molecular/synaptic properties of memory and disease? Visit our booth 1257 at #2024NDiSTEM
Eric Stokes' (@egstokes7) first paper is out: https://t.co/ucabZYPKAK! Using a suite of multidisciplinary approaches, Eric characterized a residue in neurexin-3 alpha that regulates trans-synaptic interactions. Thanks to Jaewon Ko and Hyeonho Kim for the collaboration!
Wassup y’all, my first manuscript from the @Aoto_Lab is out! Despite being discovered over 30 years ago, α-Nrxn influence on synapses remain enigmatic. Here, we investigate how different mutations in Nrx3α affects synaptic properties. Check out this study— https://t.co/YvfOdRGaEh
A fun collaboration with twitterless Dr. Kevin Beier at UCI is out in Neuron! Molecular and circuit determinants in the globus pallidus mediating control of cocaine-induced behavioral plasticity https://t.co/li37X0MuMw
My thesis work from the @Aoto_Lab reveals profound sex differences in how acute stress is encoded at synapses, circuitry, and anxiety-like behavior. These findings contribute to our understanding of sex-dependent adaptations that may shape stress-related psychiatric disease risk.
Congratulations to the 50 new HHMI Gilliam Fellows and their advisers! Special congrats to CU Anschutz's Brittany Gomez (@brittanydgomez) and Oscar Muñoz (@OscRNA98)!! #GilliamFellows
Much appreciation to @SinaiBrain for selecting me as an awardee for the Emerging Scholars Program! I’m excited to share some of my thesis work, and to learn more about the scientific culture at @IcahnMountSinai 🎉 👨🏾🔬 🧠
Another great @cupharmacology retreat in the books! Awesome lab representation - it was organized by retreat czar @egstokes7 and the best retreat poster was awarded to @carley_miller18 . Huge congratulations to Eric and Carley.
