The African Union Policy Simulation Summit 2026 was inspired by one question: How do we prepare young Africans not just to discuss governance, but to practice it? In this interview, I share the vision behind the summit and why investing in young leaders matters.

On 20 June 2026, I had the honour of convening and chairing the African Union Policy Simulation Summit 2026. What began as a vision became a platform that brought together student leaders representing 55AU Member State,Commissioners, Directors & Rep of International organizations

Under the theme, “Africa Agenda 2063 in Action,” delegates engaged in diplomacy, negotiation, and policy-making, debating whether Africa should adopt a Single African Passport and a visa-free movement policy across the continent.

Spent last Saturday as Head of State of Somalia 🇸🇴 at the AU Stimulation Summit hosted by @ApataTaofeek, debating the Free Movement Protocol and the African passport. Diplomacy is harder than it looks,but loved every minute of it. #ModelAfricanUnion #AfricanUnion
