Pleased to share our now published work investigating a new method of kinesin regulation! Thank you so much to Zhenyu Tan, Katie Schutt, @sarah_e_haynes, Lauren Jepsen, @A2DaveSept, @nesvilab, @jstumpffVT, @mcianfro, and @R_Ohi_Lab! Check it out here: https://t.co/RrB7LXrnZj
We know disruptions to the commercial supply chain have far-reaching impacts — the same is true inside our cells.
Now, a @ScienceAdvances study sheds new light on how the cell's 'delivery trucks' are regulated to maintain a healthy cellular supply chain.

So excited to share the preprint of my first paper! Check out this thread for an overview of our work characterizing a novel kinesin regulator, KIFBP ⬇️ Huge shoutout to all of our collaborators, this has been an awesome project to work on!
1/ Excited to share our work on how kinesin binding protein (KIFBP) regulates kinesin! TL;DR: KIFBP remodels the kinesin motor to inhibit microtubule-binding
I’m so happy and grateful to have had the opportunity to present my work at #SpindleCroatia2021, and it was a blast learning about so many other mitosis-related projects! Here’s hoping we can be in Croatia in person next time!
April Solon from @R_Ohi_Lab examined regulation of the kinesin motor activity by kinesin-binding protein (KBP). She determined high-resolution structures of KBP bound to Kif15 and Kif18A and identified regions critical for the interaction. #SpindleCroatia2021
