My new video is a dreamlike and hypnotic take on the most dreamlike and hypnotic thing to do when you're freediving - which is to freefall

Huge congratulations to our new SSI Level 1 freedivers! Welcome to the freedive tribe. Autumn weather making things a bit bumpy, but its still super warm and colourful in the sea. What a lovely weekend just gone! Thanks to our instructor Alex Atkins!
@diveSSI
Welcome to the family, well done to our new @diveSSI freedivers! Great conditions this weekend, enjoying the Autumn sunshine. Thanks to our wonderful instructor Alex Atkins and to Porthkerris Divers for looking after us!
Yesterday, i met Tianyang Li for the first time, and after a few dives, i was very honoured to see her trust me enough to start playing. I love my job - my work is to play
And the same goes for the people i photograph: if we take it too seriously, there's a rigidity to the pose, an awkwardness that i completely understand, being uncomfortable having my photos taken myself. So i try to encourage people to play.
Work and play
I have one of those jobs that some people consider a hobby. Very few people do some accounting for fun in their spare time, but photography, yes, sure. And most freedivers have at least a gopro and make lovely stuff with it when they're not training. I just took it
Welcome to the SSI freedive family! We were unlucky with the weather the last couple of days, so moved in land for the Level 1 course. Fresh water makes a nice change sometimes! Thanks Alex Atkins for the awesome instruction.
@diveSSI
What a brilliant weekend, so much going on here at Porthkerris Divers with a @diveSSI Level 1 Freedive Course run by Alex & Luca & an Ocean Mermaid Course run by @Mischiefthemer1 🧜♀️ The mermaids then tried to adorn our freedive instructors with a touch of glamour 🐚🐚 🧜🏼♂️🧜🏼♂️
Theatre
One of the things that age teaches you is not to add drama to reality - life will provide you with plenty of drama eventually, no need to help it out. But there's an element of fun in drama, there's a juiciness to it, so we need to give it room to play with.
Normally that room would be the theatre, but some people are so inherently theatrical, that any place becomes a stage for them. Merely by being, they are performing. Afa Zhang is one of those blessed beings - it takes a special person to upstage the sandfalls at blue hole.
Free immersion - the most puzzling discipline for outsiders, who don't understand what it has to do with diving. I think their logic is that it's not swimming? I quite love the rhythms of pulley pulley monkey monkey, and i think aesthetically it makes sense, too.
