The SpiderLab based at @UoNLifeSci; researching spider silk, ecology, behaviour, and endosymbionts. Also promoting the love of arachnids everywhere! 🕷️🦂
This creepy crawly cohort moves toward its prey in stop motion: The spiders pause, then rush forward in unison, then pause again. https://t.co/nBvNsiECCB
Everyone's talking about a stowaway huntsman turning up in the UK, which is a great opportunity to talk spiders across BBC radio today, mostly sympathising with the poor spider unexpectedly braving our UK winter! #LoveSpiders
Catch my chat on the stowaway huntsman and other spidery things here (time 25:00) or I'll be speaking to lots of local stations today so might be coming to some airwaves near you! https://t.co/PBaQAws7kc
Excellent start to #Arachtober - I've officially submitted my thesis and can be a free-range arachnologist again, not hunched over a computer all day! Will miss my tiny thieving Dewdrop spider friends though...
And a huge shout out to our runners up George (whose graphic we sadly cannot share at present) and Charlotte - such a strong concept so well executed #infohackit
A new paper by Jim Whiting shows for the first time that summer day length results in changes to immune function in fish and a reduced ability to resist a parasitic infection, probably as a consequence of inducing breeding condition https://t.co/UhmjEpVnmE
@HStiles1@JackPerksPhoto@BritishSpiders@Buzz_dont_tweet@BBCSpringwatch Certainly very novel lifestyle! It involves a big change in web construction to be able to spin underwater, trapping air under silk sheets to breathe with. Semi-aquatic spiders are common but this extreme adaptation is very unique.
@BonneMillie @followthelemur @Mal2782 Hey! Yes - we're a little patchy on Twitter at times but feel free to send us any questions you have and I'll do my best!
The new #Arachnews is out, bringing you arachnid-related art, news, and science. In this week's edition: a #PruittData roundup, jumping spiders in eyeliner, the secret to catching moths with silk, and more. https://t.co/PE11nwNj1z
Brightly coloured male #songbirds not only have to be attractive, but also have to make sure their sperm can last the distance, according to new research from Dr Kate Durrant @UoNLifeSci published today @royalsociety#BiologyLetters - https://t.co/iD5ljL02OE #UoNresearch

Learning about the importance of spiders with @ArachNotts.
We’re helping a range of spider species through our work, including the Ladybird Spider! We need these amazing #minibeasts in our ecosystems! @Buzz_dont_tweet
.@ArachNotts at @networks4nature on spiders, but not just anything about spiders...you never get triangular spiders, they can skate and sail, and what do they do in their spare time?
