This scene still gives goosebumps 💔
Nana Patekar in Krantiveer, standing at the gallows:
"First we were slaves to kings, then to the British.
Now to a few traitor netas and goons.
They provoke you in the name of religion…
and you cut each other's throats.
God made the most beautiful thing, the human.
He looked down, and they had all become worms."
1994: Nana said it on screen.
2026: it still feels like today's news.
The voice is gone. The truth he spoke isn't.
Rest in peace, Krantiveer 🕊️

When I first met him, out of awe and awkwardness I fiddled with my hair. He slapped my hand away and said 'hero ki tarah Baal mat bana...tu actor hai'!
He didn't flatter you. He didn't tell you what you wanted to hear. He told you what you needed to hear. That was Nana. Straightforward. Rough, honest and had the most beautiful smile.
He always had a strange way of showing affection. He would shout at you first, and then somewhere between the third or fourth insult, you realised you were being hugged. He loved me and I loved him back.
He was a mentor, a teacher, a critic and a friend who beat me and everyone else around him in carrom game after game and relished his victories.
Nana your intensity, laughter , madness and love will always stay with us. I just wish we had time to have more conversations, another argument, another cup of tea and a game of carrom.
You have left a void not only in the world of cinema but in the hearts of all Indians and the world. All I can say is, I will miss you dearly and carry your words in my heart till the end of time....'hero banne ke chakar mein actor mat khona'
May your soul rest in peace Nana and Allah bless you. The Heavens will be blessed to have you... a masterful actor and an unbeatable carrom champion. Love you and miss you dearly!! Too soon my Hero Actor! RIP.
Ooh Gosh this is really unexpected. Thanks for letting us witness Talent in the truest sense. You didnt deliver dialogues rather You spoke to us. Most of your roles were Patriotism based and thats how I remember you when your name appears and that's how you shall be remembered..
RIP Nana Patekar ji
He won three National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards, and received the Padma Shri in 2013.
Served in the Indian Territorial Army from 1990 to 2013, retiring with the rank of Honorary Lieutenant Colonel, and participated in the Kargil War 1999

@msurti72@SayantikaSays So all of that exist in your country right.were you able to accomplish anything. At least in this country when we protest we are still alive for another decade but the same can't be said of yours..in the next instant they can be found dead. So much for your democracy 😂
Those who made fortunes from cinema protect their own children from blind hero worship.
Yet this election, hero worship has moved from youngsters to little kids. Their children are raised to build their own future. Other people’s children are raised to worship theirs.
Remembering Periyar E. V. Ramasamy on his birth anniversary.
Born on 17 September 1879, Periyar devoted his life to challenging caste hierarchy, untouchability and social inequality. He founded the Self-Respect Movement in 1925, which promoted self-respect, rationalism and social equality, and played a prominent role in the Vaikom Satyagraha (1924–25) against caste-based restrictions on public roads.
His work profoundly shaped the social reform movement in Tamil Nadu and left a lasting influence on debates around caste, equality, rationalism and women’s rights.
Remembering a life dedicated to questioning hierarchy and demanding human dignity.

“If the word ‘chastity’ is imposed on women, it should be imposed on men as well.”
“When women are educated, they can protect not only their own chastity but also the chastity of men.”
“Religion and laws that compel women to tolerate the brutal acts of their husbands in the name of chastity must be destroyed.”
“Let women decide what they want to wear. What business is it of yours what’s in their wardrobe?”
“Even abusive words are used to criticize a woman’s morals. Don’t men commit adultery? Why not call them adulterers?”

"No matter who said it, where they studied, even if I myself said it — never believe anything that doesn’t align with your reason and common sense!"
