My wife = My life. And Arsenal. And the Revs. And soccer. SSCA All Time Leading Goal Scorer. Hebrews 12:14 - Make every effort to live in peace with everyone
@JacobsBen He’s absolutely right.
If Arsenal had only scored 40% of their 71 goals, they would’ve finished with 28. This is the 2nd lowest in the league. They probably would be looking at a relegation fight instead of lifting the cup, which should be taken away from them tbh
Also, what’s another way of knowing who the best soccer player is?
Well who are the comparisons between?
It’s:
Messi vs Maradona
Messi vs Pele
Messi vs Ronaldo
It’s never Ronaldo vs Maradona or Pele.
It’s only Messi.
It will always be Messi.
🚨🗣️ Zlatan Ibrahimović on the Messi vs Ronaldo GOAT debate:
“Every week, every month, every year, somebody asks me the same question.”
🗣️ “‘Zlatan, who is the GOAT? Messi or Ronaldo?’”
🗣️ “Honestly? I get tired of hearing it.”
🗣️ “Not because they aren't great players. They are.”
🗣️ “But because people talk about football as if it is a video game.”
🗣️ “One player scores a goal and suddenly he's the GOAT.”
🗣️ “The other wins a trophy and suddenly the debate is over.”
🗣️ “Football is bigger than that.”
🗣️ “Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest athletes football has ever seen.”
🗣️ “The goals. The mentality. The discipline. The longevity.”
🗣️ “Nobody can take that away from him.”
🗣️ “Over 900 career goals.”
🗣️ “League titles in different countries.”
🗣️ “Champions Leagues.”
🗣️ “Records everywhere.”
🗣️ “Cristiano created a legacy that may never be repeated.”
🗣️ “But then there is Lionel Messi.”
🗣️ “And this is where people get angry with me.”
🗣️ “Because for me, Messi is not normal.”
🗣️ “Cristiano mastered football.”
🗣️ “Messi became football.”
🗣️ “When I watch Messi, I don't see a player following the game.”
🗣️ “I see a player creating the game.”
🗣️ “The goals.”
🗣️ “The assists.”
🗣️ “The dribbling.”
🗣️ “The vision.”
🗣️ “The intelligence.”
🗣️ “The World Cup.”
🗣️ “Everything.”
🗣️ “People ask me how I compare them.”
🗣️ “Sometimes I don't understand the comparison.”
🗣️ “It's like comparing a lion to a shark.”
🗣️ “Both are killers.”
🗣️ “But they hunt differently.”
🗣️ “Cristiano is the greatest goalscorer I have ever seen.”
🗣️ “Messi is the greatest footballer I have ever seen.”
🗣️ “There is a difference.”
🗣️ “And before Ronaldo fans get angry, listen carefully.”
🗣️ “Being second to Messi is not an insult.”
🗣️ “Most players would dream of being second.”
🗣️ “Cristiano is a legend.”
🗣️ “A football icon.”
🗣️ “A player who changed history.”
🗣️ “But if you lock me in a room and force me to choose one player...”
🗣️ “One player for one match.”
🗣️ “One player for my life.”
🗣️ “One player to represent football itself.”
🗣️ “I choose Messi.”
🗣️ “Every time.”
🗣️ “Because goals can be broken.”
🗣️ “Records can be broken.”
🗣️ “Trophies can be matched.”
🗣️ “But what Messi does with a football?”
🗣️ “That cannot be taught.”
🗣️ “That cannot be trained.”
🗣️ “That is a gift from God.”
🐐🇦🇷⚽
🗣️ “Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players in history.”
🗣️ “Lionel Messi is history.”
In 2013, NBA player Brian Scalabrine, who averaged just 3 points per game over his career, responded to critics by challenging four volunteers who claimed they could beat him 1-on-1. In a public matchup, he dominated all four games, finishing with a combined score of 44–6.
The event became known as the “Scallenge” and is still remembered as one of the clearest examples of the massive gap between professional athletes and even highly skilled amateur players. By 2013, Brian Scalabrine had already retired from the NBA and was often the subject of jokes due to his limited playing time, with many pointing to his 3.1 points-per-game average as proof he wasn’t far above elite recreational players.
Scalabrine decided to challenge that perception directly. After hearing local players claim they could beat him one-on-one, he organized games against several strong amateur volunteers. The results were decisive—he won every matchup, finishing with a combined score of 44–6, showing that even post-retirement he was operating at a completely different level of speed, strength, skill, and basketball IQ.
The event produced one of the most famous quotes in sports, which remains unchanged:
“I’m closer to LeBron than you are to me.”
The line wasn’t arrogance, but a reality check about the skill gap between NBA players and everyone else. The Scallenge has since become a go-to reference whenever fans underestimate professional-level ability. Scalabrine’s career also included 11 NBA seasons and an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008, along with over 500 games played—an achievement reached by only a tiny fraction of players worldwide.
Morgan Rogers Update
• Morgan Rogers has given preference to joining the English champions. Other clubs are still actively in the race but acknowledge the player's current preference.
• Morgan Rogers has respectfully communicated his desire to leave to senior figures at Villa (significant).
• Personal terms have been explored and are not a hindrance at all.
• Morgan Rogers is sold on the Mikel Arteta project and plan for him.
• Morgan Rogers was on the shortlist of attacking reinforcements Arsenal discussed last summer.
• My understanding is that Villa and Arsenal are in contact through unofficial channels regarding any potential deal. Remember my words: the fee is key to this deal. The player is fully on board.
• Andrea Berta has asked to be kept fully informed about any other club making a move for Morgan. If Arsenal do make a move, there will be another update.
Chelsea, in particular, have been pleading with Morgan to showcase their plan for him, but as of today, the response is "Arsenal." Manchester United have also explored the situation of Morgan, with Carrick being a big fan.
Bradley Barcola and one other player are also of interest to Arsenal. Details on that in due time.
Arsenal are also in direct contact with multiple midfielders, as recently as a few days ago. The likes of Bouaddi, Scott, Kone, Larsson, and two others. As I mentioned yesterday, we are yet to make contact with any club officially while Berta explores personal terms with all of them. One of these players is convinced he is joining Arsenal. It's important to remember that Livramento also felt the same way, but it highlights how strong the conversations are.
Arsenal are also monitoring the Madrid midfielder situation. Tonali was offered to us in January; talks have never surpassed personal terms as of today. These clubs are using Elliot Anderson's deal as a market scale. Newcastle want crazy money, as do Palace for Wharton.
Personally, I hope its Ayyoub Bouaddi we accelerate a move for!
Taking a very short holiday. I'll be back!
