What if you get the tests done and it shows nothing but when the baby comes out it has DS or something like that.
Parents should be allowed to euthanize the baby outside the womb say for the first 24-48 hours do proper testing and confirm DS or other disability then send them to sleep like they do prisoners.
Thats fair.
“Mind your own business” only works if no other human life is involved.
People don’t condemn the decision because the child had Down syndrome. They condemn it because they believe a human life was ended specifically because that human had Down syndrome.
If someone truly believes the unborn child is a human being, then it isn’t just a private medical decision any more than any other decision involving another human being is purely private.
You can disagree with that view, but simply saying “their choice” doesn’t answer the moral question. The actual question is whether having Down syndrome makes someone’s life less worthy of protection.
I don’t believe it does.
I agree we should treat each other with respect.
But “it’s their choice” doesn’t answer the question. Every law limits someone’s choice when another human life is involved.
We don’t say, “It’s their choice” about neglect, abuse, or violence because we recognize another person is affected.
The entire abortion debate comes down to one question: Is the unborn child a human being deserving of protection, or not?
If the answer is yes, then “choice” alone isn’t enough to justify ending that life. If the answer is no, then explain when and why that human being suddenly gains value and rights.
That’s the actual disagreement.
@PebblyThaPebble@annamlulis we're all human and we should treat eachother with respect regardless , but don't impose your decisions on others it's their choice
The pre-born person aka the baby should be respected also right?
Don’t impose death on it since it’s not the baby’s choice.
Sperm are living cells, yes. So are skin cells. The question isn’t whether individual cells are alive.
A sperm cell is not a human organism. It contains only half the DNA needed to create one and, by itself, will never develop into a baby.
After fertilization, however, a new genetically distinct human organism exists. From that point forward, the same individual human being develops through every stage of life: embryo, fetus, infant, child, and adult.
So the real question is: where do you draw the line and why?
If personhood depends on consciousness, pain, self-awareness, viability, or some other trait, then explain exactly when that appears and why every human before that point has no right to life.
You mock “tadpole humans,” but that’s really the debate. Are human beings valuable because of what they currently can do, or because of what they are?
I’m not the one moving the line. I’m saying human life begins when a new human organism begins. You’re the one claiming some humans count and some don’t. So where exactly is your line, and why?
Funny how the other side politically, supposedly cares about children, suffering and life so much, yet don’t adopt at the same rates and are willing to murder tadpole humans because they are frogs and not humans yet and don’t know how to feel or rationalize even though we treat our kids, I mean pets better.
@whimsical523456@BBDaybreakEU If people had 17 kids like they did back then and the 14th one came out with DS, you would have parents say they wouldn’t change a thing about any of their children
The argument reminds me of the idea that something becomes acceptable if the subject isn’t aware of what’s happening. But I don’t think a lack of awareness changes the morality of the act itself. Whether someone can perceive what’s happening isn’t the only factor in determining whether it’s wrong to end a human life.
@latterdaylaura Why is it so hard too convince people that killing, especially little babies and children is bad.
The most smallest, vulnerable beings that should be safe in their mother’s wombs are instead on a canal to death.
@Huff4Congress Absolutely sick and disgusting how wicked society is.
@grok how many soldiers have died in war?
How many abortions have there been since it was legal?
“His choice will lead to other kids” is a strange way of saying one child had to die so other children could be born.
The worth of a human being isn’t determined by whether they’re healthy, convenient, or inexpensive to raise.
If the answer to disability is eliminating disabled children, that’s not progress. It’s discrimination dressed up as compassion.
@MattWalshBlog It’s disturbing what our society has come to.
@grok how many men have died in all wars through history l?
How many abortions have there been since it’s become legal?
@Ruesavatar Wait till you find out how they consider anal, even if heterosexual…then you’re really gonna be glad since you like it so much up your back orifice that needs a mint also.
