🔸Cyber Police, West Region bust ₹1.67 crore cyber fraud; 7 accused arrested

The accused posed as police officials and intimidated the complainant using fake documents bearing the police logo and Supreme Court seal. Claiming that his bank accounts required verification, they placed him under a fake “digital arrest” and coerced him into transferring ₹1.67 crore to two bank accounts.

Cyber Police, West Region, Mumbai, arrested seven accused in connection with the fraud. Further investigation is underway.

🔸‘डिजिटल अरेस्ट’च्या नावाने ₹१.६७ कोटींची फसवणूक; ७ आरोपी अटकेत!

पोलिस अधिकारी असल्याचे भासवत आरोपींनी बनावट कागदपत्रे व सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाच्या शिक्क्याचा वापर करून तक्रारदाराला धाक दाखवला. बँक खात्यांच्या चौकशीचे कारण देत त्यास ‘डिजिटल अरेस्ट’च्या जाळ्यात अडकवून तब्बल ₹ १.६७ कोटी दोन खात्यांत वळते करण्यास भाग पाडले.

सायबर पोलीस, पश्चिम विभाग, मुंबई यांनी कारवाई करत ७ आरोपींना अटक केली. त्यांच्या ताब्यातून २७ मोबाईल, २ लॅपटॉप, ५ डिजिटल साईन डिव्हाईसेस आणि ६१३ सिमकार्ड जप्त करण्यात आले. ₹ ३४ लाखांची रक्कमही गोठवण्यात आली आहे.

लक्षात ठेवा: ‘डिजिटल अरेस्ट’ अशी कोणतीही कायदेशीर प्रक्रिया नाही. अशा प्रकारचा कॉल आल्यास घाबरू नका. १९३० वर संपर्क साधा किंवा जवळच्या पोलीस ठाण्यात तक्रार करा.
