I’m a 75 year old grandfather……born in West Ham….our family all slowly drifted out to Essex where my children were born and educated. Something very strange happened when George Floyd was killed by a white policeman and the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement was born. I never thought about race before…..my Grandfather was a Labour MP for 23 years ( I’ve wised up….sorry Grandad)….I thought our country was getting better about not being racist……I thought we were all getting along….but after BLM ……I actually feel black people have been encouraged to feel white people are not good people. In the MSM black people are lined up to vent against us….I’m feeling as though black people actually don’t like me…..we are being made to feel guilty about being white. The ridiculous over representation of black men in advertising campaigns is actually counterproductive….it irritates us because it’s manipulative….not because we’re racist. We have gone backwards since BLM.

8 years ago today, I voluntarily had my breasts sliced off. The worst, most evil thing I have ever done. I remember my grandmother called me crying the night before begging me not to go through with it. She asked me, “has your heart turned to stone?” It had. I did it anyway. I do not share my story to try to evade responsibility or blame others. I did it. Dr. Alison Shore just held the knife. I was encouraged by peers and professionals, but at the end of the day, it’s my fault. I am the reason why my breasts are gone forever. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

I’m 5 weeks post breast reconstruction, but I still won’t be able to feed any future babies. And as I get used to these new “breasts,” I remember how my original ones felt. It’s not the same at all. Let my story be a cautionary tale to all trans-identified people. All of you are potential future detransitioner, and while there is life after detransition, dealing with the irreversible consequences is nothing short of devastating. It’s been 8 years and I still curse my past self for making this horrible, selfish, downright stupid decision.

We may have accidentally found the most Americana pub in America.

Last night we were on the road to pick up our antique wool loom so we can make American flags. We ended up staying at the historic Nassau Inn in Princeton, NJ, in the Norman Rockwell Suite.

That already felt pretty perfect.

Then we went downstairs for a drink at the Yankee Doodle Tap Room and realized there was an original 13 foot Norman Rockwell mural right behind the bar.

He painted it in 1937 and they say it took him nine months to finish.

So there we were, picking up a loom to make American flags, staying in the Norman Rockwell Suite, drinking in a place called Yankee Doodle, sitting under a real Rockwell painting.

You really can’t make this stuff up.

One of the coolest little American road trip moments we’ve ever had. 🏇🏻🇺🇸🍻

182 years ago today, President John Tyler who was 54 years old secretly married 24 year old Julia Gardiner in New York City at the Church of the Ascension.

It was the first time a sitting US president ever tied the knot while in office and they kept the wedding quiet at first. Tyler had courted the “Rose of Long Island” for years but Julia initially turned him down. Tragedy brought them together. Both were aboard the USS Princeton in February 1844 when a massive gun explosion killed her father and several others. Tyler comforted her in the aftermath and she finally accepted his proposal.

The couple kept the wedding under wraps before announcing it and holding a public reception in the White House Blue Room. Julia became the youngest First Lady in history at the time. She served the final eight months of Tyler’s presidency and later embraced a very public role defending Southern causes.

A romantic and quite scandalous for the era chapter in presidential history with a 30 year age gap secret vows and all.
