@UtdMaI Similar idea but slight twist:
- 40 teams qualify (removes some dead wood)
- 8 groups of 5, with 2nd v 3rd playoff round to join 1st in Ro16
- this would keep number of games at 104, exactly the same as current tournament
- guarantees all countries 4 games

The easiest way to fix the 48-team World Cup format:
Group winners go straight to the Round of 16.
Second-placed teams play third-placed teams in a playoff round for the remaining spots.
That way, winning your group actually means something, and the format still keeps the drama.
It really isn’t that complicated.
@Dannythefink Danny, for a member to go to every PL game the access costs (membership + booking fees) have increased from £40 to £98 in one season. How is this justified?
The ridiculous booking fees (Guy Lawrence tax) were gone for years and can easily be absorbed by the club.
@carefreejake_ Feels like he visibly loves our downfalls & piling on when it goes wrong (Cucurella boots, stop signing for Chelsea) - fair enough that’s his job.
But zero acknowledgement when we beat PSG days after he praised them, with a squad visibly improving - this combo is the issue imo.
@carefreejake_ Does annoy me that the club have passed the burden of selling these tickets onto fans by exploiting the loyalty point system.
Pre-season games should be cheap and used as a great way to engage with a different set of fans who rarely get to go.

@mattylufc_ Proposal - venues should rotate as such over a four tournament cycle to keep geographic spread:
- Lords always gets one
- Oval hosts 3x, gives one away to Southampton if desired
- Remaining four (OT, Trent, Headingley, Edgbaston) host three of every four (each misses out once)
@ben_bowman_ 😂 fair play for owning it - I think all chelsea fans slightly agreed with you at the start of the season, but he is turning out to be another gem from the scouting team
@UberChelseaFC_ It’s not - there are 1000s of empty seats.
The issue that needs to be highlighted is the club is abusing the loyalty point system and taking advantage of fans by in effect forcing them to buy these smaller games if they want to go to other games
