#Georgia: while covering the parliamentary elections, journalists from @RFERL and @MtavariChannel were subjected to threats and insults. RSF condemns this violence and intimidation and calls for transparent investigations. https://t.co/UAAArMpuiM
Arresting @bahruz_samad is yet another nail in the coffin of free speech in Azerbaijan. He is a victim of an oppressive authoritarian regime, to which any dissent is 'state treason.' His courage to speak out when others remained silent should not condemn him to life behind bars.
BREAKING: Azerbaijani researcher and OC Media contributor Bahruz Samadov has been charged with treason by the Sabail District Court, and faces 12-20 years in prison or a life sentence if found guilty.

Despite what has been said and left unsaid, his books offered some of the best insights into the Balkans and totalitarianism. His Broken April was one of my first introductions to Albania and remains among my top literary choices from the region.
🔴 #RSFIndex | In 2024, the World Press Freedom Index shows that press freedom is under threat from those who should be its guarantors – political authorities. #WorldPressFreedomDay

Just returned home after an enriching five-day experience at the International Journalism Festival in Perugia. Once again, I depart from Perugia filled with renewed inspiration and a deeper appreciation for journalism in our current landscape.
Looking forward to IJF25.

@RomikAsatryan Agree. Also, the narrative about the number of Armenians in Russia preceding the Armenian population of Armenia is just another propaganda thesis. According to the official Russian statistics, there are less than 1 million Armenians (2021) in Russia (incl. Russian citizens).
@vickimuradyan On numerious occasions she also indirectly justified the military actions in 2020. At the same time, being proclaimed as an investigative journalist, she disseminated disinformation and manipulations in the context of the conflict.
@sopjap Will be difficult to translate because they are long, but these documentary series provide comprehensive coverage of the conflict (also available in Russian). It is a cooperation between a group of Armenian and Azerbaijani journalists. https://t.co/O96KK1lowT
@alexkavtaradze_ Even for the sake of own better future, it should be communicated clearly that democracy is a regional development, & if at least Georgia and Armenia don't have each other's support, surrounded by autocracies, maintaining democracy, saving their sovereignty is a tough challenge.
