If life coaches, executive coaches, money coaches, health coaches work with clients of marginalized identities, they must be willing to commit to their own antiracist work to be of true service. It’s an important part of healing and transformation.
Today is 11 years since I got trained as a coach at @iPECcoaching. Becoming a coach was one of the best decisions I made in my career. Looking back though, I wish there were more coaches of color and I wish diversity training was part of the curriculum.
Coaches play a very important part in one’s journey towards empowerment. But coaches who are woefully unaware of systemic racism and social inequities can actually cause harm particularly if their clients belong to a racialized group.
Just finished listening to @cthagod audio book Black Privilege. Something told me to buy his book and I'm glad I did. Hearing a black mans perspective on how to break free of your circumstances was refreshing. Not a lot of books out there telling these stories. Highly recommend.
Proud daughter moment: My Mom was recognized as the Care Pro of the month at her local home health association not once but twice this year! I learned from her to always give my best and take pride in my work. Congrats ma!
