Earlier today at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, received a courtesy call by UNFPA Asia and the Pacific Regional Director, Mr. Pio Smith. They exchanged views on synergising and advancing ASEAN's initiatives on gender equality, elimination of violence against women and girls, youth development, as well as reproductive, maternal and neonatal health. Both sides also looked forward to increasing cooperation between ASEAN and the UNFPA.

Great to meet with the Secretary-General of @ASEAN @hourn_kao and the #ASEAN Representatives to Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and the US in #Jakarta.

We discussed how to strengthen our joint efforts to implement the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 by advancing sexual & reproductive health and rights, youth empowerment and ending gender-based violence in a region facing rapid ageing, digitalization, and more.
