@Tyler_McV To be the cool uncle that brings in the one box to emulate them all whenever I visit the kids, plus whatever local co-op I have on my library.
The Steam Machine is not out to compete with consoles. It's a niche product aimed at middle-aged (and older) gamers who are tired of sitting at their desks, and are tired of building gaming PCs because we've done it for years and are too busy to keep building & upgrading rigs.
@ToniSmalloni@RogeeRoger Honestly, I wish they'd try that. I do wonder what their cost of operations is and if that in any way poses an obstacle. But, since they're private...
@ThatN0rmalDude@N4pstr If you're that Joe Schmoe and can't figure you need a display and a cheap logitec mouse & kb combo to begin with, or the gamepad equivalent, you have bigger problems elsewhere in your skull.
@Actually_Tina The freaking 2TB ssd I got for my OS doubled between Nov and Feb. Its cost alone is 1/4 of the steam machine. People need to get a grip on how much hardware is costing us now and pressure against data centers rather than moan at Valve
@Varitok@deaderpan@ArmoredNorman The counterpoint to this is that Forerunner tech looks almost the exact same in-game as it did in the concept art, whereas other conceptualizations (covenant) were noticeably simplified. The visual language of the forerunners was deliberate, otherwise it would be textured in.
@deaderpan@ArmoredNorman The fact everything looks monolithic is what sells the fact the Forerunners were ancient and advanced enough they could conceal all their tech behind smooth surfaces and basic geometry.
@Shizukougames@WightTroox Yeah that's what I figured for most cases. It's the same in the US in that regard. Some old homes in some states don't have any forced air systems, and they're stinky about being able to set up window units.
@WightTroox@Shizukougames@GamerOtakuSan Yup! I was focusing on just the insulation aspect so as to not type out a whole essay lol. But yes, you're correct on all points. I find the blanket notion that just installing AC will fix everyone's problems in the UK to be disingenuous but it's not an impossibility for many
