@Grummz How much of this, do you think, is the end result of all those years ago when the media outlets complained that all Xbox had was "Halo, Gears, and Forza"? Do you think the brand would be getting hit this hard if they'd doubled down and delivered on those three pillar franchises?
@kathryn_naomi I was totally right about Librarian being a speedrun game. I cleared it in just under 3 hours but there are people who have beat me by half that much!
Imagine if McDonald's cancelled the Big Mac and then told you that you had to eat nothing but Filet-O-Fish for a year if you wanted it back.
Same energy.
I do wonder if I might have stayed the course with streaming if I'd found a core group of friends to do stuff with consistently.
No sense dwelling on the what-ifs. I need to move forward.
I just wish I knew which way "forward" actually is from here.
Just to elaborate from yesterday:
I'm done "being a streamer".
I'm not done trying to create content I can share with an audience.
I'm still open to collabs with friends.
I'm not going to do long form videos.
I may do short form stuff, we'll see.
I'll definitely keep building Gunpla and start sharing photos.
I'm not tossing away the VTuber persona, either. That's still my "public face" online.
For years I've been trying to define myself as a "streamer".
It's never worked.
I can't be consistent.
I can't be "always on".
I shouldn't rely on other people to make me feel like I'm being entertaining.
I need to step back and find other ways to "create content" besides streams.
But I'm still open to doing collabs.
I'll still stream on special occasions.
I just won't be trying to "become a real streamer" anymore.
Maybe I can start enjoying games again on my own time, rather than trying to funnel everything into a Twitch channel that has only paid out once (thanks to the generosity of a small handful of great people).
@TheVindicated It bothers me, maybe more than it should, that so many of these stories are about VTubers. Makes the rest of us look bad by association.
Destiny 2: *gets canned by Sony in favor of Marathon, pours everything they have left into one final update, player numbers surge back to above anything Marathon managed even at launch*
But sure, tell me more about how Marathon is worth keeping around instead.

@KaoriLupine I know that you felt it was kind of an anticlimax, having to "break kayfabe" like this. But Scripture says that "the truth will set you free" for a reason. And I believe that, whatever God's will is for you moving forward, He'll honor that you chose truth over "content".
@HoodlaMutt Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was a standalone game, though. Uncharted 4 "finished" Nathan Drake's story, but it seemed like there were more stories they could tell in that setting... But then the devs became addicted to remastering TLOU on repeat and we haven't gotten another one.
@TexelElf@Grummz The law itself doesn't target Nick Shirley directly, but it's obvious to anyone with basic reasoning skills that he's the reason they passed it. But yeah, it's a clear violation of the first amendment and I hope the state gets their pants sued off.
@AkiAndFam@kathryn_naomi I've considered multi streaming, but I'm not sure whether it's even worth the effort if you don't already have an established audience...
