@lippyent We had some used furniture from our parents. We used crates and bricks with planks on them for night stands and bookcases. We had mismatched thrift store chairs at our thrift store table. Every single piece of actual furniture we owned was older than we were.
@tanpukunokami Biggest thing is not tipping after meals in sit down restaurants. Our tipping culture is weird and most tourists don't understand it. If you eat in a restaurant where someone brings your food to you and clears the plates after you leave, you should leave a tip of 10% minimum
@blightersort When my fourth was in college (at 17), she was with a group of girls and they started talking about a girl, who wasn't present, and one of them said, "Homeschoolers just never get sarcasm."
Obviously SOME of them don't...
(All mine were homeschooled K-12).
@ENJU1123PIPI I'm in the rural US. We aren't required to sort anything. We do compost some waste and give some food scraps to animals (we have chickens, goats, ducks and 2 milk cows).
@yamanakanobody There are 4 time zones in the Continental US, plus 2 more with Alaska and Hawaii. Also, people travel and work outside the US. And then you've people like me, who work night shifts and check X on breaks.
@mrsdobbins_ Lots of great suggestions! Some that weren't mentioned that my boys liked: Farmer Boy, (Old) Hardy Boys, Tom Swift, Ted Scott, R. M. Ballantyne (12 and up), G.A. Henty (12 and up). Also my boys loved nonfiction books about knots, swords, aircraft, animals.
