@stevemagness Shit, I was pissed when I found out my glycogen wasn't depleted after a heavy set of bench press.
Let alone that it's only 40% depleted after a long intense weight training session.
We store more glycogen than we think.
@CoachDanGo Is the risk-to-reward ratio too high for playing a game of pickup basketball?
Far more injuries happen per hour in team sports than in powerlifting (which includes deadlift).
Maybe seeking resilience is a better goal than avoiding risk.
@AntiDoc@bowtiedwhitebat I was gonna argue with #8, but I think you just got lazy with the wording.
Squats and sprints CAN have a positive impact on your physique. It's just not BECAUSE of the temporary hormone spikes.
100% on everything else tho.
@AntiDoc How much is his physique starting to look like Hulk Hogan?
If it is, then he's progressing towards his goal.
If not, then he's sacrificing sleep and heart health without progressing towards his goal, which seems a waste.
@KingOfVitamins Nothing like a steady hum of cortisol because you can't keep some arbitrary metric in some unnecessarily narrow range to totally help with the gains.
@Hybridathlete Some running could help you get more muscle, because you'll recover faster between sets and can handle more volume per set/session.
Some lifting could help you run faster, because you'll be at less risk of injury and can train more (plus other reasons).
@anymanfitness Pretty sure the literature says the opposite about volume.
And people going for 1-3 rep maxes usually don't have looking good as their top priority.
