Lori canyon, #Armenia. #Armenians have lived in Lori for centuries. In 979 King Smbat II Bagratuni of Armenia granted the province of Tashir to his brother Kiurike (Gurgen) with the title of king, ir became known as the #Armenian Kingdom of Lori by later historians. #Artsakh
Images of the Armenian Church of Saint Mesrob and the Sahakian School in Homs from the last time “rebels” took the city in May 2012.
The church and school were built in 1920. In 1930, a local Homenetmen Scouting chapter was founded in Homs.
Just as in Nagorno-Karabakh, Turkey and Israel are acting in tandem in Syria as well.
The only difference is: in Nagorno-Karabakh, it was Azerbaijan, Turkey’s vassal; in Syria, it’s HTS.
"There was no mention of Azerbaijan’s violations of Armenia’s territorial integrity, the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, the rights of its displaced people, the destruction of cultural heritage, or the unlawful detention of Armenian citizens, PoWs, and the political leadership of NK.
Former Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian on Armenia's precarious moment in its democratic journey. He says Pashinyan’s continued grip on power exposes the weaknesses in Armenia’s democratic institutions and lack of viable alternatives in the opposition.

The COP29 summit may be the last opportunity for the international community to condemn President Ilham Aliyev and prevent the total erasure of Nagorno-Karabakh’s population, argues Thomas Becker. https://t.co/3TJ60Lmb2P
BREAKING: Climate activist @GretaThunberg announces her boycott of #COP29, condemning Azerbaijan's use of the conference to distract from its ongoing ethnic cleansing of Armenians in Artsakh. For over a year, Azerbaijan has launched brutal campaigns that forced over 120,000 Armenians to flee their ancestral lands, erasing cultural sites and violating human rights with impunity. By hosting COP29, Azerbaijan seeks to greenwash its reputation while continuing aggressive actions against the Armenian population. Thunberg’s boycott is a call for accountability and an urgent reminder that climate leadership cannot coexist with human rights abuses.

"Canada must make it clear that it stands against the exploitation of global platforms such as COP29 by autocratic regimes seeking to cleanse their image," Sevag Belian of the Armenian National Committee of Canada told a news conference Tuesday.

Earlier today, we were delighted to be joined by MP Mike Morrice of the Green Party of Canada at a press conference in the National Press Gallery in Ottawa to denounce Azerbaijan’s abhorrent human rights and environmental record, and highlight Baku’s unsuitability to host the upcoming COP29 conference.
The ANCC’s position is clear. We call on the Canadian government not to afford Azerbaijan the privilege of hosting any Canadian elected official at the COP29. Canada must make it clear that it stands against the exploitation of global platforms by autocratic regimes seeking to cleanse their image. We urge the international community to take this opportunity to expose and denounce Azerbaijan’s abhorrent human rights record and environmental misconduct.
Thank you MP Elizabeth May and MP Mike Morrice of the Green Party of Canada for their principled stance and leadership on this critical issue.

The world is gathering for #COP29 to discuss peace and sustainability, yet Azerbaijani authorities still hold Armenian POWs. How can we talk climate justice without basic human rights? Free the POWs! #ReleaseArmenianPOWs#HumanRights
Today, on Oct. 11, Armenians around the world are taking to social media to call out Azerbaijan for attempting to greenwash the ethnic cleansing and genocide in Artsakh. We will not allow Azerbaijan to use #COP29 to cover up its crimes.

Blood for oil. By allowing Azerbaijan — a petro-dictatorship — to host the world’s largest climate conference, COP29, the UN is telling the world that they don’t care about human rights or climate justice.
“While calling publicly for a ‘COP29 truce’…in actuality, Azerbaijani authorities have only escalated the crackdown across the country.”

Azerbaijan’s bid to host COP29 is a blatant attempt to cover up its abysmal human rights record and near-total reliance on oil and gas. Reports from Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and Freedom House reveal a regime that suppresses dissent, detains Armenian POWs, and erases Armenian cultural heritage. Despite claiming to shift to renewable energy, Azerbaijan’s fossil fuel-driven economy contradicts the very purpose of the climate conference. Hosting COP29 in such a politically unstable and authoritarian country raises serious concerns about the integrity of the event. We must demand transparency, justice, and accountability—not allow Azerbaijan to use COP29 as a tool for greenwashing.
What can you do?
SHARE this message to raise awareness of Azerbaijan’s greenwashing and human rights abuses.
DEMAND the release of Armenian political prisoners and POWs.
ENGAGE by tagging your university, organization, or government officials, urging them to reject Azerbaijan’s actions and speak out against these atrocities.
Together, we can say NO to Azerbaijan’s greenwashing at COP29 and YES to justice and accountability for the Armenian people.

🗣️ Today at #WarsawHDC, we presented evidence from our fact-finding mission about Nagorno-Karabakh, which concluded that the forced displacement of ethnic Armenians was intentionally coordinated and committed by the Azerbaijani govt.
