They made their own COVID vaccines when the world tried to lock them out. Their engineers reverse-engineered German gas turbines and now ship them to Russia. They build more cars than Britain. They launch their own satellites. They rank among the top nations in nanotechnology and biotechnology. They created a national internet network so they would never be fully dependent on outside cables.
They have the knowledge, roughly eighty percent of what is needed, to build a nuclear bomb. Yet they choose not to. One reason is principle. They see it as a line that should not be crossed. Another is wisdom. If Iran crossed that line, every Gulf capital would demand the same. A country with near-universal literacy and hundreds of thousands of engineers could do it. They simply refuse.
This is not propaganda. This is what happens when a people decide to survive on their own terms. They took in millions of Afghan refugees when times were hard. They cut oil to apartheid South Africa and stood with Mandela. They sent weapons and trainers to the Bosnians when the world looked away.
The West has spent decades painting Iran as nothing but a threat. That story is incomplete. Iran is also a country that turned isolation into innovation, sanctions into self-reliance, and pressure into scientific progress.
If this planet is going to survive, we need more of that spirit. Not more wars. Not more endless suspicion. We need nations that compete in knowledge, in health, in human dignity, and in the quiet strength of standing on their own feet.
Iran is not perfect. No country is. But it has shown that a large nation under maximum pressure can still educate its people, heal its people, and build its own future. That is a lesson worth studying, not a story worth burying.

He used a simple trigonometric trick: from two points on the plain, he measured the angle to the peak. Knowing the distance between those points, he calculated the mountain's height with a formula surveyors still use today:

From the peak, he measured the dip angle to the horizon: α = 34′ (just over half a degree):
R = h * cos(α) / (1 - cos(α))
How did he compute the cosine of such a tiny angle?
Without modern calculators, he used a sophisticated technique: he started with the known value of cos(60°) and used the half-angle formula to work his way down to the required value for his 34′ angle.
He calculated the Earth's radius as 6,340 km. The modern value is 6,371 km.
An error of less than 1%. In 1030 CE.

Washington never understood what it was dealing with.

No one else in the political class is saying anything about this, and no one in the media class and barely anyone in the epic based pseudo-radical alt-media class is saying anything about it.

Most people are not defeated by inability.

Persistence wins because compounding is invisible at first. For a long time, nothing looks like it is happening. Then suddenly the person who kept working has skill, judgment, network, proof, scars, taste, and momentum that the talented quitter cannot fake.
But the key precision is this: persistence has to be married to feedback.
Repeating a broken pattern forever is not strength. That is ego trapped in motion. Real persistence means being immovable on the mission and ruthless about changing the method. The weak person changes the goal every time it gets hard. The stupid person keeps using the same failing method because changing it feels like admitting defeat.
