@edmundfitzz@flightradar24 What would they do at Logan? Last I entered the US there, the border control took forever, maybe they want a faster experience?
It's also likely that Bangor is just their entry point to the US, and that they'll do a refueling there before flying on to their final destination.
@tatummagoat@GLewdz@Jaboolie Take them to a suburb of each of those, and they'd pick up on the low density housing, wide streets and high density of pickup trucks and deduce they're in the same country. But you cross the border, from "used to be Spanish/Mexican" to the real deal, they'd tell the difference.
@tatummagoat@GLewdz@Jaboolie But you get those exact same variations within a single country in Europe. Bavaria to East Germany to Lübeck, or Nice to Chamonix to Paris. A person who's used to European architectural variety won't get fooled even by cherry-picked US cities.
@tatummagoat@GLewdz@Jaboolie If he means a German-speaking Belgian and a German guy living right across the border he might be right, but make a very poor point. If he means a French-Canadian guy in Appalachia he might be right too, but again makes a poor point because he relies on distance and borders.
@tatummagoat@GLewdz@Jaboolie OPs point is fatally flawed though. Three of the four locations mentioned are extremely vague. Where in Belgium does he mean? Flanders? Brussels? Wallonia? A German-speaking region in Eastern Belgium?
Similar questions can be asked about "a guy from Germany" or Appalachia.
@BillRautiola1@dieworkwear Depends on the level of wealth. If you're worth several billion, you don't worry about a house or some cars worth a few million. You've hired some people to look after them and make sure they're spick and span whenever you pop by.
@rlc_mac@MachinePix 10000+ people working for years. Nowadays we can have two people move a multi-ton block faster than hundreds of people could 5000 years ago.
@rwlesq@yoderpaul@rebirthcanal Get ground cumin, not cumin seeds though. Which is a deliberate detail in the original tweet. Seeds is an unnecessary complication for amateur cooks.
@thesparklingred@rebirthcanal The original tweet specified cumin seeds, which is a step removed from the ground cumin most amateur cooks will be likely to have in their pantry. Both in ease of use and availability.
If one expects an amateur to start by blooming their spices the battle is already lost.

@agitorgeduc8@YoungDottore@EyeOnStalk@rebirthcanal I've made chili from a number of different recipes, none of them listed cumin seeds in the ingredients. Cumin powder, yes. But that's a different ingredient.
@Danaiides@YoungDottore@EyeOnStalk@rebirthcanal I've cooked from most of those cuisines and haven't come across a recipe that requires cumin seeds. Or are you conflating cumin seeds with cumin powder?
