Sign Language Week is a flagship awareness week for BSL/ISL, celebrated every year in March to commemorate the first time BSL was acknowledged as a language in its own right by the UK Government on 18 March 2003.
The WFD #SignLanguage and #DeafStudies Expert Group brings together specialists dedicated to advancing research, policy, and advocacy on sign languages and deaf culture. Their work will help strengthen linguistic rights, education, and identity for deaf communities worldwide.

A 39-year-old Offaly man has been jailed for 14-and-a-half years for coercively controlling, raping, assaulting and falsely imprisoning his former partner.
Outside court, Lisa O’Meara urged other women in abusive relationships to “just leave” as “it doesn’t get better”.
