🇬🇧 The U.K. wants to choose what you watch

YouTube is telling its UK creators to push back against a government plan that would force it to show some channels ahead of others.

The rules would park the big broadcasters, the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and 5, at the top of your feed whether you asked for them or not.

YouTube: "This could severely limit your channel's ability to grow."

Space at the top is finite, so every slot they get is one taken from the smaller creators you actually came to watch.

Sold as fighting misinformation, it's really the state deciding whose videos reach you first.

Governments don't usually rearrange your feed to hand you more choice.

I want to post some photos with my friend Jack, but also a plain selfie tied to a story about him.

The selfie I took last time Violet and I were over at Jack's house before he moved. ❤️ You may notice I'm alone in the bathroom. I was hiding in there because the movie we were all watching, The Substance, got toooooo spooky for me. 😆

I had stepped out quietly because I didn't want to interrupt everyone else's enjoyment, but the second he realized what I was doing he turned the movie off. I told him over and over that it was totally fine and that they should finish watching. He was SO into the movie and I didn't wanna be a fuddy duddy! But his response was that he wanted the four of us to do stuff we could all enjoy together. That he and his partner could finish watching the last half hour of the movie later on. He wanted all of us to have a good time.

It's a small gesture in the grand scheme of things, sure, but it speaks to what a wonderful person he is.

My friend Jack deserves an amazing life y'all. If you can help him fund his cancer treatment, you'll be helping him achieve exactly that.
