Unseating the DMK government seems to be BJP’s top priority!

Congress mustered 10.67% in 2024 and managed to bargain 28 assembly seats + 2 RS berths. Technically this means 28 + 12(1 MP = 6 MLA) = 40 seats.

But with 11.24%, BJP has settled for just 27 seats. I am not sure if any RS deals have been made.

As I have mentioned in my quoted post written almost a year back, I thought BJP has always struggled to decide between defeating DMK and growing its own party in Tamil Nadu.

But today’s seat sharing arrangement confirms that unseating the DMK government seems to be BJP’s top priority. I know some BJP supporters are unhappy that the final number is 27. I can understand their emotions.

But it is not going to be easy for DMK too because the anti-incumbency is very strong, simmering and palpable.

An ADMK-BJP-PMK combo is still formidable to give DMK+ a tough fight.

Let us hope for the best!
