जलपाईगुड़ी जिले में गजोल्डोबा के पास तीस्ता नद�� के तेज बहाव में एक हाथी का 3 दिन का नवजात बच्चा बह गया. बच्चा बह कर कई किलोमीटर दूर चला गया. उस बच्चे की मां वहीं नदी के किनारे खोजती नज़रों से उसका इंतजार करती रही.
Baikunthapur Forest Division की टीम को जैसे ही इसकी सूचना मिली, उन्होंने तुरंत मोर्चा सं��ाला. स्थानीय मछुआरों की मदद से नदी की लहरों के बीच से उस नवजात बच्चे को सुरक्षित बाहर निकाला गया.
डॉक्टरों द्वारा मेडिकल केयर दी गई . फिरवन विभाग की टीम ने बच्चे को उसकी मां के पास जैसे ही पहुंचाया,तो मां का रिएक्शन देखने लायक था. हथिनी मां तुरंत अपने बच्चे को दुलारते पुचकारते हुए अपना दूध पिलाने लगी.
