One of the quietest guys in my office resigned last month.

Nobody really noticed him like that. He doesn't wear expensive clothes, hardly gives his opinions, and doesn't even post anything on social media.

While others would post about their accomplishments on LinkedIn, this guy doesn't care about that. On few occasions he talked, he'd just say:

“Forget LinkedIn jor.”

People mostly saw him as one struggling guy trying to survive Lagos. Others even think he's unserious with his life by being quiet and not making new connections.

On his last day, our manager jokingly asked him:
“So where you dey go now? Hope say no be another small company.”

That was when we found out he was relocating to Canada.

A fully sponsored job, with a far better salary than almost everybody there. Accommodation was also already sorted.

The silence in the office that day was something else.

You see...

People don't understand that not everybody advertises their life while building it. And the fact that someone is silent or not flashy doesn't mean they're not progressing.

Most times, the men that were poisoned have hurt their wives in the past. But sometimes, the men did nothing. It's just a case of the women trying to prevent the husband from finding out their secrets.

Take the case of Natalie Cochran for example, she was a pharmacist who was convicted in 2025 of poisoning her husband with insulin to prevent him from discovering her involvement in a $2 million Ponzi scheme. She was found guilty of his murder. This is Natalie and her husband, Michael Cochran, in the picture below.

Also, I'll like to point out that when we talk about poison, some people think it has to be one big out of reach chemical. No! Who would have thought of insulin being used as a poison? She knew what she was doing as a pharmacist. The man's blood glucose level dropped to 21 and he developed cerebral edema. Brilliant way to murder someone, if you ask me. It took a judge granting an order to exhume Michael's remains for examination and testing in 2021 before the truth was found.
