At ~5 PM on July 4th, a funnel cloud was spotted south of Alpine Creek Lodge along the Denali Highway between Paxson/Cantwell. Since this occurred in NWS Anchorage's area, here's how they determined it was a funnel cloud. Thanks to everyone who shared their photos/videos! #akwx
Wow, check out this aerial photo of the Kouts, IN EF-3 tornado ground-scaring.
Mitchell Serber saw my post about the tornado track from satellite and sent this in. It was taken on June 13, just days after the tornado.
Daylight reveals the horrific aftermath of the intense tor in Huanggang, Hubei Province last night. The tor picked the deadliest path directly thru the city center, entire rows of bricks homes severely damaged or destroyed, cars tossed. Local authorities confirmed 9 fatalities.
This is incredible! During the tornado in Huanggang, Hubei, a car was hit head-on by the tornado. The driver said that the car behind it was blown away, but he survived.
I was recently researching the April 9-10, 2011 Tornado Outbreak and viewed some photos of the storms in Wisconsin. Similar to the Union City, MI EF3 (From this year except this was later in the year) snow and ice was present in many areas where severe weather happened! (1/2)
Three up close footage shows the killer tornado moving right towards downtown Huanggang, Hubei Province. One of the photographer suffered injuries just after the video was taken.
I'd say this is the best video I've seen so far during yesterday's tornado event. No scream, no shouting, steady https://t.co/ulUHw3BjQh makes the best illustration of how terrifying a nighttime monster could be....

The river city of Huanggang, which is just east of Wuhan in China, was hit by a strong, deadly tornado 2 hours ago.
Some people I know who are familiar with the area say that there are "2 fatalities and hundreds injured."
Photo not mine, taken from a Chinese social media site.

TORNADO UPDATE: The Owen/Monroe Co. tornado on June 17, 2026, has been upgraded to an EF-3 rating with max winds of 140 mph.
Further analysis revealed debarking of hardwood trees near I-69, which is consistent with EF-3 damage.
The path of the tornado was also extended to 18.49 miles. Satellite data showed the trail of damage went further into the Morgan-Monroe State Forest.
Friendly reminder that findings from a paper that examined the Dodge City EF3 in 2016 noted cycloidals can be caused by soil depositions at the corner flow. It isn’t always stronger subvortices because their dwell times at this strength usually are too low to do damage.
June 23, 2016:
A violent tornado struck China's Jiangsu province. The massive EF4, which reached an astonishing width of around 2.5 miles, devastated areas in and around Funing. Thousands of masonary homes were damaged or completely destroyed. 98 people were killed.
