They couldn't break Imran Khan, so now his family fears Pakistani authorities are planning something much worse

His sister Aleema Khan has spent years fighting for a brother she is rarely allowed to see, and every time I speak to her, she is even more defiant

In this conversation, Aleema describes what those months have looked like from the outside of a prison wall.

Imran has been held in almost total isolation for nearly ten months, with only five visits from family or lawyers in that entire time.

During that time he developed an eye infection.

For two weeks he told prison authorities he could not see from one eye, and no medical help came. By the time a doctor examined him, the damage was irreversible.

What frightens the family most is what Aleema believes is happening around him.

Medical information about hypertension has been deliberately leaked, while images of an increasingly old and frail Imran have begun circulating.

She believes a public image is being built, piece by piece, of a man whose health is naturally collapsing.

That is why the family now takes one of Imran's own warnings seriously: that he could die in custody the way Mohamed Morsi died in Egypt.

Aleema's argument is that Pakistan's establishment fears the millions of Pakistanis who still believe in what her brother represents far more than it fears the man himself.

And if they can neither release him nor break him, his family is left asking the darkest question of all.

IMRAN KHAN’S LIFE IS NOW CLEARLY IN DANGER!

Imran Khan has repeatedly warned: “They will kill me as they killed Morsi in Egypt.”

Imran Khan was fit and healthy before being placed in complete isolation in October 2025. By the end of December, he began losing sight in one eye. Despite repeatedly informing the jail superintendent he cannot see, he was denied medical attention for nearly two weeks. When a doctor was finally allowed to examine him, Imran Khan was told that the delay had caused permanent damage to his eye. There are at least a dozen CCTV cameras around his cell. The agencies monitoring him knew he could not see in one eye. The treatment was delayed with criminal intention.

Since then, while almost no genuine information is allowed out of Adiala Jail, medical reports and supposed “inside information” about his health have intentionally leaked. By the end of July, social media was suddenly flooded with claims that his health was deteriorating, his hands and lips were trembling, his blood pressure was unstable, and that prolonged isolation was affecting him mentally. These reports were accompanied by fake and AI-generated images portraying him in wheelchairs and hospital beds.

Why is this narrative being created?

Because his captors believed he would not be able to withstand the extremely harsh conditions he was being kept in. They believed he would break, that eventually he would give up on the people of Pakistan and try to save himself.

He did not.

When he refused to give in they subjected him to extreme torture through complete isolation from human contact. Except for irregular weekly visits with his wife who is also in the same jail.

Yet he still stands defiant and because they could not break him, they have now begun creating a fake narrative and fake optics around Imran Khan’s physical and mental health.

On 18 August 2026, the Supreme Court ordered that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for an independent medical examination and treatment, in the presence of Dr. Uzma Khan and his personal doctor, Dr. Faisal Sultan. The order carried a two-day deadline. He should have been shifted by 20 August. The order has still not been implemented.

What is the government hiding that it is willing to defy the Supreme Court rather than allow an independent medical examination?

We are left with no option but to come out on the streets peacefully with two clear demands:

1. Immediately shift Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital for a complete independent medical examination and treatment, in compliance with the Supreme Court orders of August 18, 2026.

2. Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar who has failed to take up Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan’s bail applications for over 22 months in the Al-Qadir case and 9 months in the Toshakhana case should either dispense justice or step aside.
