Derrick: We do not have to match them dollar for dollar, but we do need to match them data for data ... we can achieve those optimal funding levels and win races, even if the Republicans get more money beyond that, and they want to dump in money at the last minute.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court race is a good example of this, where Elon Musk tried so hard. He put in tens of millions of dollars to try and buy that election, but he ended up making the race more about himself. His money was toxic, and our money got the vote out about our candidate.
And so you don't have to have more money. But we do have more people, and we just have to be able to leverage that power.
The net effect of this decision is political parties will have more power over individual candidates. When elections are over, winning candidates will feel more obligated to vote with their parties instead of their constituents.
Fewer Thomas Massies and Ro Khannas, more zombies.
So Tennessee republicans can blatantly strip majority-Black Memphis of representation 9-0, but virginia voters VOTE to redistrict and it gets struck down?
What a country. 🇺🇸

I have spent my entire career reporting on sexual misconduct by politicians. The barrier to publication anywhere with good lawyers is very, very high. Getting women to speak and share personal records and acquire corroboration from friends and colleagues is extremely difficult.
@ThoughtMiss@OliviaMesser They came forward because media has shifted. The political influencer who broke the story was seen as a safer space than journalism that can be viewed as more “establishment” That influencer then used her network to find and confirm more stories.
I always want hear your stories about misconduct in the #txlege — on both sides of the aisle — and I hope it means something to see that change is possible sometimes. And bravery is contagious.

@OliviaMesser It infuriates me to think of the amount of women we have lost in the political space because of abusive men. Thank you for your work. I hope this does give more women the courage to come forward and at the very least let’s the bad guys know we’re watching.
I want to see every man in the #txlege uplift @OliviaMesser and her work. But we know some of you are on her radar. This is a reckoning that’s been a long time coming. Act right or get fired men! Stop ruining women’s careers.
Thankfully these two members of Congress resigned today because survivors spoke up.
If you have been waiting to see whether this system could hold someone accountable - today it did.
If you have a story, there are people ready to hear it. Your silence has never been the problem. The people who put you in that position were. This is your contact: @OliviaMesser
