Year 11 got to experience a stretch and challenge lesson on 'A Christmas Carol' , considering how Dickens' Christian beliefs influenced his novella, delivered by Rev Dr R Warden. Excited to see the difference it will make to their essay responses.
To celebrate World Book Day, we had the inspirational children's author, Peter Murray, come to visit the Senior School to deliver a talk about writing and his novels. The students loved hearing about 'The Darker Side of Wight' and came at break to buy signed copies of his book!
Before the end of last term, Year 9 were given the challenge of writing their own parody of the Twas the Night Before Christmas vs The Nightmare Before Christmas. Have a read of one their attempts!
Three of our students from Upper Six last year are about to embark on the next stage of their literary journey by pursuing degrees in English. We are sending them good luck wishes and are looking forward to hearing their views about the writers they discover!
