Throwback to last weekend when I was leaving Singapore after an amazing week at the World Congress of Dermatology. Now I just need to get my head down and write this penultimate DHLP assessment! #WCD2023
@DrRJWebb@VirtueOfNothing Next day I asked my non medic husband to take him back to the GP, without me. This time it was recognised how unwell he was, by the time he got to PAU he needed iv antibiotics and oxygen for pneumonia. But he had been the same the previous day and all the signs were ignored
@DrRJWebb@VirtueOfNothing I personally had a bad experience with my 4 year old last yr. Fever, cough 10 days, tachyopnoeic at 50-60 for days, drowsy, fever only breaking for 3 hours despite regular paracetamol and Brufen, 3rd presentation.
Told “viral”, no need for abx, carry on.
@DrRJWebb@VirtueOfNothing PA couldn’t explain the high RR yet the Gp didn’t come and examine my son. I took him home and he was exhausted and drowsy, I thought he was going to die- I knew he was sick and I was being treated like the paranoid medical parent.
Loved presenting to the #BAD2023#psychodermatology SIG about Topical Steroid Withdrawal. An area of significant need, dermatologists must be braver in engaging with #SocialMedia & listen to patients.
Interesting talk on skin disease in HIV in the immunocompromised session from Brighton, at BAD 2023 great presentation by Jamie McCluskey and supervised by @djohnchandler#BAD2023
Exciting talking at the trainee pre-conference session at the BAD annual meeting in the OOP panel session about the BAD/ Topol Digital Fellowships yesterday, even if I did have the graveyard shift #BAD2023
@volewriter@handm Honestly even my daughter (not just me) hates the tacky slogans, we actively Avoid buying anything with that sort of cheesy message (“It’s nice Mum, if it wasn’t for that stupid slogan). She loves her Pokémon T-shirts from Zara!
@parthaskar I’ve heard of this weird blood trend amongst tech millionaires/ billionaires- apparently they think it is anti- ageing and often employ young men to donate blood. Really doesn’t seem evidence based at all (despite them having teams of doctors)
Coronation commentary from the 10 year old continued:
“Imagine if the King had a cold. One sneeze and the crown would fall off”
“Now that he’s king can he ask for silver instead of all that gold?”
“Is that the King’s wife? First sensible outfit I’ve seen today” #Coronation
Running coronation commentary from the 10 year old:
“Gold, why is everything gold? I prefer silver myself!”
“Did they just hand him gold sticks that they’ve just given interesting names to?”
“Just get on with it, how long does it take to put a crown on anyway” #coronation
@VPrasadMDMPH @AaronGoodman33 Umm, just come to the U.K., postgrad medical training is way longer than anywhere else, junior doctors striking as pay has dropped 26% due to inflation. Takes 7-10 years minimum to become a consultant (attending) after medical school.. assuming no time out for research etc
