Most developed economies follow a #5DayBanking . India leads in digital payments, but apparently still needs the banker’s chair occupied on Sunday.

A unique policy formula: employees pay with extra working time, while implementation waits for another day.

Five-Day Banking was agreed with employees accepting approximately 40 additional minutes of work every day. Yet the commitment remains pending.

Meanwhile, the revised PLI system offers extraordinary rewards to selected brackets while assigning ZERO to the Bottom 20%.

Collective benefit delayed. Selective rewards delivered.

Government must honour the Five-Day Banking commitment and replace forced ranking with Fair PLI.

The 5 Day Work Week for bank employees was agreed in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024. Its implementation cannot remain pending indefinitely.

At the same time, a unilateral and discriminatory PLI framework that divides the workforce must give way to a fair, transparent and inclusive system for all employees.

Every achievement of our banks is the outcome of collective effort.

Recognition too must reflect that collective contribution.

We seek no privilege, only implementation of an agreed commitment, equality in reward and dignity at work.

905 days since the 9th Joint Note.
997 days since the December 2023 understanding when 5 Day Banking Promise was agreed in written.
Digital payments are 99.7% of transaction volume. Cheques, 2.3% of value. RBI, LIC & GIC already work five days.And Bankers offered 40 extra minutes a weekday for it. Despite everything they failed to keep the promise. A signed commitment is not a suggestion but an obligation.

Read the revised PLI matrix carefully.
In EVERY scenario — even where the Bank scores above 80% and performed magnificently — the bottom bracket receives Rs 0.
Not a reduced award. Zero!

Public sector bank employees transformed the banking landscape, bringing GNPA down from 14.58% in March 2018 to 1.93%, while delivering record profits despite reduced staff strength.

Yet the reward tells a different story.

Five-Day Banking remains pending, while the revised PLI framework may push 20% of officers into zero-PLI brackets.

The message is striking: collective effort for record profits, selective rewards for employees.
Government must end this double injustice. Implement Five-Day Banking and ensure Fair PLI based on collective performance.
