I sincerely hope AAP regains its bearing and grows a national footprint. A democracy needs a strong government as much as it needs a strong opposition.

And it’s not hard for AAP. All they need to shed is the hubris and drama, and they could do a whole lot better.

I hate freebies as much as the rest of you but cannot beat them up on that because it’s not like no-freebies won over freebies today.

Dear AAP, just go back to your OG anti-corruption, pro-development plank. Give up that pothi-pandit-maulvi nonsense you came up with in last-minute desperation, work on a pollution plan, accept that shallow PR does not work for all parties, and stay away from melodrama, and you might have a chance to return the next time.

You’re a young party, you have time on your side. Do something constructive with it.

Avoid pointless controversies. Don’t pick fights you don’t have to. Your constant harping on things like Modi’s degrees and occasional outbursts on things like that Kashmir film did more damage than good. They weren’t necessary. There was a time you steered away from controversies like that and got labeled “soft Hindutva,” remember? Embrace such labels. They help.

Do politics for development, not for reels.

And please, please, please, avoid appeasement politics like the leprosy it is. Don’t serve RG well, won’t serve you well either.
