For a curious mind, AI is rocket fuel.
Many evenings with friends, filled with conversation and argument, do not make you stupid. So why would daily access to a patient, informed, tireless conversation partner make a curious person smaller?
The task now is simple. Rekindle curiosity, and kill the system that killed it.
Every anti-AI sermon begins the same way. A warning about your mind.
And they all end the same way. Selling you their mind and their way of thinking, with claims that theirs is the right way to think and use AI.
The gatekeepers are doing what gatekeepers do best. Defending scarcity.

AI may be making our work better, but it’s making our thinking worse, new evidence shows.
A few recent studies point the way toward preserving what makes us human amid the rise of artificial intelligence. https://t.co/zfUcEr6tNL
This is what I call the “conniving insider.” She spent years inside the machine, supporting it, polishing it.
Human history is mostly the history of the rich and powerful arranging the world in their own favor.
The great trick of plutocracy was persuading ordinary people that voting every few years made them sovereign. That their sacred civic duty made them matter.
Somehow, a ritual every four years was power.
It was not.
All Trump and social media did was remove the comforting illusion and release the cold hard truth.
Now that the comforting illusion is gone, someone is out peddling her book.
This is what I call the "wicked pseudo-intellectual," and Anne Applebaum is a finished specimen of the type. There is nothing naive here. The narrative is mercenary work, written for the highest bidder, in the service of their agenda.
In 2002 she argued that Palestinian radio and TV studios were "fair targets." She has no moral authority, none whatsoever, to lecture anyone about a beacon of democracy going dark.
AI fixes this. Their time is up.

For nearly 250 years, America promoted freedom and equality abroad, even when it failed to live up to those ideals itself—not anymore. @anneapplebaum argued in The Atlantic’s “Unfinished Revolution” issue last year. https://t.co/MrTTw6jL1m

This is what I call the "naive gatekeeper mentality." No ill will from the gatekeeper. He just mistakes his own unfamiliarity for the nature of the human mind.
The ten-year-old he wants to protect doesn't need protection from the tool. That ten-year-old will take a journey of their own: source knowledge from many places, do the research, and land on what actually matters to that one-of-a-kind mind.
The child's learning is not diminished by the machine any more than a driver's journey is diminished by not machining the internals of an internal combustion engine.

“Beyond dystopian.”
Novelist Dave Eggers is sounding the alarm about AI, which he argues is harming children’s education:
“You have a ten-year-old who is unprecedented in the history of the world. There's never been anyone like that person… To think about that one-of-a-kind-in-the-history-of-humanity person shopping their vision out to a machine, how tragic that is. That's beyond dystopian. It cannot be allowed. Not even one ounce of AI can be allowed in the humanities and youth education.”
Two years ago on this day, 25.05.2024; I climbed Mt Everest three times in a single climbing season, becoming the first woman in history, and the only woman so far, to achieve this feat.
From an ordinary farmer family in Gorkha, Nepal 🇳🇵 to the highest point on Earth, the journey was never easy. Behind every summit were struggles, doubts, pain, sacrifices, and countless moments where giving up would have been easier than moving forward.
But the mountains taught me one powerful truth: willpower is always stronger than fear.
To every girl chasing a dream, your background does not decide your future. It does not matter where you come from, how small your village is, or how impossible your dream may seem. Never stop believing in yourself.
Dream fearlessly. Stand strong through every storm. Because even the highest mountains in the world are climbed one step at a time.

Terence Tao, a Fields Medal winner, reminds us that one of our biggest mistakes is imagining intelligence as a ladder.
But reality is far richer and more subtle than that.
Intelligence is not a hierarchy; it is an ecosystem, where different forms of thinking, reasoning, and perception evolve for different purposes, each powerful in its own domain, none truly comparable on a single scale.

India is delighted to welcome Prime Minister Carney on his first visit to our nation. This is an important milestone in India-Canada relations. PM Carney's accomplishments, including those before he became Prime Minister, are very inspiring. I can say with confidence that from our very first meeting, the India-Canada friendship has gained new energy, mutual trust and positivity. Our talks today focussed on further strengthening this relationship for the benefit of the people of our nations.
