@snow_magnolia@JoeLongBalls That's great, but it sounds like you aren't selling it now and you bought it at least 10 years ago so that doesn't sound like it's a reflection of the used card market today.
@wonpilesqued I read a fic that used "the blond" 16 times. It's not the density that bothers me but overall number of uses or any use that is not necessary. A necessary use would be for example when the character whose point of view we are reading doesn't know who the other character is yet.
@szonzy_@brightredlights@sappy_sappho1 But there are same-sex friendships, work relationships, etc. in published books, and the characters interact without epithets being used.
@ladydatadoc@benryanwriter That approach was tried in the U.S. too, and many more babies still acquired Hepatitis B, which is why we changed to universal vaccination. Now fewer than 20 babies per year get the infection https://t.co/K24IQIwcWo
@EZubi30@jakescottMD That approach was tried, and babies at risk were missed and got infected and even died. This article has some good information: https://t.co/K24IQIwcWo
@OurVoices18@JCColtin Evidence is a bit mixed on the impact of decriminalizing drugs, although I still support it + more harm reduction and drug abuse treatment services. Some evidence from European countries that decriminalized earlier than most US places if you're interested: https://t.co/VcGgJeGXoA
@OurVoices18@JCColtin Thanks for the discussion. My notifications are messed up so apologies for not seeing all of your posts right away. I think we share a goal of protecting people who are vulnerable, it's just figuring out how to do that. I hope we hear more of that from the mayoral candidates too.
@OurVoices18@JCColtin I missed this before. I guess since pornography is considered a legitimate form of work in that it is legal, it doesn't make sense for an adult consensually selling sex to another adult to be criminalized when the only difference is who is paying and lack of a camera
@OurVoices18@JCColtin People who aren't in jail due to addiction would likely say it made their lives better. Decriminalization of drug use can also lead to a more public health approach rather than a punitive approach, though I think we need more harm reduction and treatment services alongside it.
@OurVoices18@JCColtin I hear you. I think that would require universal basic income or other social safety nets or jobs. I don't know if a mayor can solve that vs. state or federal government. In the meantime, decriminalization would help those currently selling sex.
