There was a line from Zohran Mamdani’s inaugural address yesterday that took my breath away. He said he intended to replace “the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.” Collectivism in its various forms is responsible for the deaths of at least one hundred million people in the last century. Socialist and Communist forms of government around the world today—Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, etc.—are disastrous. Catholic social teaching has consistently condemned socialism and has embraced the market economy, which people like Mayor Mamdani caricature as “rugged individualism.” In fact, it is the economic system that is based upon the rights, freedom, and dignity of the human person. For God’s sake, spare me the “warmth of collectivism.”
UPDATE On Micah
If you are not too busy let’s pray for the family .
God our Father Comfort this family at the time of Needs
Micah is now with the Lord .
👇
Read what Micah’s dad wrote
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job 1:21
Micah Joseph is beginning the new year basking in the never ending glory, love, and peace of God. Micah has been very busy already, as I see the Lord using him and sending him on missions to bring millions of people closer to God. We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses (Heb 12:1) that my son is now a part of. I couldn’t be a prouder father. This reality gives me great joy and hope in the midst of sorrow. Our hearts are broken; but we trust in the Lord. Please pray for my family and me as we learn how to live by faith and not by sight.
Thank you for all the love, prayers, and compassion that a countless number of you have showed us. May God truly bless you. Your prayers for Micah were answered, but in a different way than what we had all hoped for. God healed and welcomed him into eternal life. He is where we all want to be.
Not sure if I’ve ever gotten this emotional watching a commercial before
The conversations, the memories, the music
It all broke me
Thank you for making me cry today, Chevrolet
@needGod_net 1- God is bound to the sacraments, not by the sacraments.
2- the Catholic Church has never definitively stated anyone is in Hell. So for you to say that is what the Church teaches is either ignorant or a lie and deception. I pray you’ll find the fullness of truth!
@Jonbee89 @JesuitJunkrat@sola_chad He actually did say to multiple people that he was close to becoming Catholic - many people have shared about this, some even providing text screenshots as evidence. Either way, my point is that I don’t get why even the possibility has caused all of this hatred toward Catholics
@robbysoave Are Catholics or Christians in general encouraged to pray and fast? Did Jesus die on a Friday? Was it (until recent years) canon law that Catholics abstain on Fridays? Even though it’s not anymore, could this kid still choose to fast and abstain on Fridays?
@Jonbee89 @JesuitJunkrat@sola_chad Again, I didn’t say definitively that he became Catholic. I said he expressed interest in Catholicism and clearly there was something going on in his heart. Did he expressly say “I’m this close to becoming mormon”? Did he have Mormon ministers come to pray with him and his wife?
@Jonbee89 @JesuitJunkrat@sola_chad Also, megyn Kelly confirmed on her podcast that Erika shared with her when they were worried about the Etsy witch curse, they had a Catholic priest over to pray with them. There was video footage of a Catholic priest backstage at the recent TPUSA event Erika Kirk spoke at.
@Jonbee89 @JesuitJunkrat@sola_chad I didn’t say he was definitively going to join but there is irrefutable evidence that he was interested in Catholicism and my issue is not whether he was Catholic or Protestant it is that people have been so spiteful toward another Christian denomination for really no reason.
@Jonbee89 @JesuitJunkrat@sola_chad Also, some places where he clearly expressed interest or at least openness to Catholicism. Nowhere did I claim that he definitively was becoming Catholic but the issue has been that people are just so livid that Catholics have pointed out that he was interested in the faith
