In the light of ongoing discussion and interest surrounding the “Makkah Joint Defence Agreement” (The Makkah Accord) over the past two days, the following context and clarity on this Agreement may be useful for everyone to note:
• The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, jointly signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in Makkah Mukaramma on Friday 7th August 2026, reflects the depth of the brotherly relations between the leadership and peoples of the three countries.
• The Makkah Accord is the culmination of years of discussions and coordination, with a common desire to strengthen strategic cooperation in addressing multifarious peace and security challenges and advancing regional peace, stability and prosperity.
• The Makkah Accord does not abrogate or replace any existing bilateral or multilateral agreements between these countries, or with other countries or organisations.
• Any external armed attack on any one of the three countries will be considered as an attack on all, consistent with the inherent right of individual and collective self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
• The Makkah Accord is purely defensive in nature. It is not targeted against any country and its sole purpose is to further strengthen our ongoing efforts towards peace, stability and prosperity in the wider region.
• The Makkah Accord remains open to any country in the region willing to uphold its fundamental principles and resolve differences through mutual respect, cooperation and peaceful means.
• The Makkah Accord is consistent with the fundamental pillars of our foreign policy, Pakistan looks forward to continuing to work closely with all brotherly countries in the region towards lasting peace and stability. We remain committed to advancing the cause of peaceful resolution of all conflicts and building a more secure, stable and prosperous future for our peoples.

Pakistan remains steadfast in its support for the just struggle of the people of Jammu & Kashmir for the realisation of their right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

I have concluded two very productive visits, AlhamdoLilah:
- to Manila for the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting and
- to Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic, for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting.
The visits provided an excellent opportunity for substantive discussions with my counterparts on bilateral, regional, and global issues, while further advancing Pakistan’s engagement with our friends and partners in ASEAN and the SCO.
My sincere appreciation to #TeamPakistan at our Embassy in #Manila, led by Ambassador Ms Asima Rabani, and our Embassy in #Bishkek, led by Ambassador Mr Altamash Wazir, as well as my accompanying delegation and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for their coordination and support throughout these visits.
Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 arrived in Manila, Philippines, along with his delegation to participate in the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting. A busy programme of engagements lies ahead, including participation in the ARF Plenary Meeting and bilateral meetings with counterparts on the sidelines.
Upon arrival at the airport, the DPM/FM was received by Mr. Elmer G. Cato, Assistant Secretary for the Office of Intelligence and Security Services (OISS), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) of the Philippines; Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Philippines, Ambassador Asima Rabbani; and officials of the Embassy of Pakistan.
