On this day in 1955, Claudette Colvin,15, was arrested for refusing to give her seat to a white woman on a public bus in Montgomery, Alabama.

She was arrested 9months before Rosa Parks, but NAACP didn't want her to represent their organization because she was 15 and pregnant.

Mary Fields aka Stagecoach Mary was hired as a mail carrier because she was the fastest applicant to hitch a team of six horses.

She was the first black woman employed as a mail carrier in the US and the second woman to work for the US Postal Service. #BlackHistorymonth

Today is #Holocaust Memorial Day. Thinking of this group of children. Only the girl in the middle (white dress), Felice Polak, survived the war. Some were deported to #Auschwitz shortly after the 📸 was taken in Sept. 1942. Others were deported later. #HMD2023 @EHC_Deventer
