We’re proud to see the first legislative step of the New Deal for Working People taken today. The Employment Rights Bill will make a real difference to working people. It’s thanks to the hard work of @AngelaRayner, a trade unionist to her core, alongside 🧵
On Monday I asked the chancellor how much the Tories forked out from the public purse to make sure the share holders of private rail companies didn’t feel the cost of strike action.
The answer: it cost us £1.6bn.
What an utter disgrace.
It's a privilege to stand for the new Luton South and South Bedfordshire constituency.

A reminder of where we are.
The worst growth since the Great Depression.
The worst real wage growth in modern history. Real pay is still below the 2008 level. That was 16 years ago.
The worst government for living standards since records began.
Crumbling classrooms.
Record NHS waiting lists.
Rocketing household unsecured debt.
14 years of economic failure.
This country deserves so much better.

Kevin Maguire: "... if they thought they were going to break the train drivers they've failed" #GMB

That sound you can hear?
It's the Conservatives scraping the barrel.

Rishi Sunak's new anti-union legislation means when workers democratically vote to strike, they could be forced to work and sacked if they don’t. Join the campaign to protect the right to strike. https://t.co/p4U9eArGM9 via @megaphoneuk
