Miscommunications are inevitable with this pithy format. :) I think there is plenty of room to critique elements of a player’s play without laying all of the offensive blame on someone … and unfortunately that latter opinion has been way too prevalent here. (The incentives of Twitter are as much to blame as anything else. I can’t imagine that many people really believe what they are tweeting.)
I’ve seen a lot of this, and it’s just untrue.
Indiana is 7th in EPA/dropback, 19th in pass success %.
Hoover has the 2nd-best passer rating at the 10th-longest ADoT.
33 QBs have ADoT 10+ yards. He’s 3rd in turnover-worthy play %, 8th in success %, 12th in big-time throw %.
You can’t say Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, or Calvin Johnson.
You’re down 5 with 5 seconds left in the Super Bowl.
Name a receiver you’re trusting to catch the game-winning touchdown.
This is a really bad showing for Indiana. Your offense - predicated on the run game - simply can’t execute at this rate.
15% success before contact suggests it’s OL- and/or scheme-based issues. That rate’s the same as TCU’s rn.
Gotta find a way to run the ball.
Remember when college football always had that next big assistant coach everyone knew was going to be a head coach?
Kirby Smart when he was DC at Alabama. Will Muschamp when he was head coach-in-waiting at Texas. Jimbo Fisher at Florida State. James Franklin at Maryland. Charlie Strong at Florida. Brent Venables at Oklahoma. Gus Malzahn at Auburn. Pat Narduzzi at Michigan State. Tom Herman at Ohio State. Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma. Dan Lanning at Georgia.
Every time a major job came open, it seemed like the same handful of assistants were mentioned as candidates.
Does that even exist anymore? Who is the next big-name assistant in college football that everyone expects to become a head coach?
I genuinely can’t think of anyone with that kind of hype today.
Good discussion for #iufb fans.
They make the case for Indiana as a contender and also laud Bryant Haines for the amazing job he did against Ohio State.

Game 7 of the NBA Finals. You’re down 1 with 5 seconds left.
Name a player you’re trusting to take the last shot.
Troy Aikman talking about Kaelon Black on the Monday Night Football broadcast, saying 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told him "he's as mature of a rookie as he's ever seen".

Agreed, all the tools are there for Arch Manning he just has to put them together more consistently. I think he’d benefit from a different system/scheme. He’d do insane at Indiana
