IPSE has responded to recent #ONS labour market statistics, warning of an “alarming and avoidable” slump in the number of UK #freelancers as the newly #selfemployed and other forgotten groups have left the flexible labour market in droves. #ExcludedUK

@ContractorCalc "...we don't listen to evidence & reason from everyone everywhere, including ourselves and our own reports...because, many as lifetime politicians, we have so much experience building businesses."
This is what they were really saying.
@itcontracting@LibertyBishop @Qdoscontractor @IntouchAcc @JSAServices @MarkelTaxUK@BauerCottrell @contractorIFA I've seen/heard "anodyne" about 5 times today on various programmes.
Is it today's word from word-of-the-day toilet paper 🤣?
Oh, and this mini-budget lacks any roughage and should be flushed.
Today Chancellor @RishiSunak is due to unveil a series of measures to stimulate the #economy as the country emerges from #lockdown. IPSE has written to the Chancellor, explaining what we believe he should do to support #freelancers in the coming months. https://t.co/ykKDXlqQS5
Jesse Norman is again going on about #ForgottenLtd having dividend income from investments etc.. I don't know but I would guess that many #ForgottenLtd, being small companies, do NOT have any company investments elsewhere 🤦♂️. We are not Tory MPs with Investment and Hedge Funds.
There IS a solution:
👉Allow directors of small ltd co's to self certify income
👉Use tax returns to ensure no overclaims
👉Get #accountants to verify as they do for mortgages
👉Claw back wrongful claims later

Many thanks to @MelJStride for continuing to help LTD CO directors get the help they so desperately need! Thanks so much! @RishiSunak - what are you doing about this gap? @BorisJohnson you mentioned you would re look this gap - have you gone back on this? #ForgottenLtd
@stopoffpayroll@ContractorCalc Similarly "The legislation is designed to clamp down on contractors who essentially operate in a similar way to employees but work through limited companies for tax purposes." We don't. Most clients won't engage except a Ltd company to protect themselves. Accountants advise Ltd.
@stopoffpayroll@ContractorCalc I disagree with the author of this article: it is not "contract workers fear will land them with a higher tax bill or even affect their opportunities to find work".
The latter is the primary reason and then "unfairly taxed due to zero rights and employment case law."
@JohnMartinComic@ForgottenLtd@RishiSunak@thisismoney@teamIPSE@johnredwood@CommonsTreasury We can (well, could have) technically...but it wouldn't have been worth it for the paltry amount which you couldn't live on. The main reason though is that you couldn't help yourself (and the govt) to get yourself out of it as you weren't allowed to do anything for your company.
