@dank_ackroyd It’s like. If I was willing to spend two grand a month on rent I’d be looking at listings for two grand a month and would get somewhere a lot nicer for more money.
@fatstevebuscemi Honestly American sleeper trains not having couchettes is mental. 4-6 bed rooms you share with strangers makes sleeper train travel a lot more affordable.
We're not even half way through summer in Canada and wildfires have consumed over 10 million hectares of forest. That's about 10 times the amount of any year since 2016. This is more than an aberration but an indicator of what's to come in future years as the planet warms
We may be about to see some of the hottest temperatures ever recorded in Europe. A heat-building anticyclone will settle over Italy this week, where land temperatures (hotter than air temperatures) have already reached 50C (122F).

Week 256. We are currently shattering heat records all over the world. Last week we experienced the hottest days ever recorded, many days in a row. We are also experiencing record high sea level temperatures and record low ice levels. This is an emergency. #FridaysForFuture
Bravo 👏
I've been reading How To Blow Up A Pipeline and it's inspiring to see climate activists learning the lessons from that to take more direct action to achieve their goals ✊
Trying to get off this island without flying is a challenge both with the lack of ferry lines and the lack of access to the ferry ports without driving. Ringaskiddy doesn’t even have a bus to the ferry port?
Also, while yes there’s a bus line that runs from Cork to Rosslare (but you have to change buses at Waterford) it takes four and a half hours to get there.
It’s faster for me to get the bus to Dublin ferryport from Cork :/
I can’t stop thinking about how they closed the Cork to Swansea ferry line, the Cork to London bus via Rosslare and Bristol and the Cork to Bristol flight.
Like, fuck connecting the south of Ireland with the south west of Britain I guess? Go via Dublin or die.
