@Hacksore We have had feedback that the migration guide is super quick and easy to follow! But mileage will vary depending on how complicated your configuration is π
Today we have released AstroNvim v4 which is the result of nearly 10 months of development, testing, and incredible community involvement! This modularizes AstroNvim, removes our own configuration mechanism, and makes AstroCommunity even more powerful!

@Christo82576668 Thanks! Probably along side Neovim v0.10 which is currently slated for December. If there are tons of delays or we get antsy we might just cut the release early since we will still be supporting Neovim 0.9 anyway π
Quick but exciting announcement today. We have deployed a new landing page for AstroNvim and the documentation now lives at https://t.co/m0SJTs9riU! π
Let us know what you think of the new website!

#AstroCommunity now has >150 plugins and >40 language packs available for easy installation! π This is such an incredible milestone and shows how much the community has been able to come together and help build this project to where it is today! β₯οΈ

After 6 months of development and countless hours from A-Lamia over on GitHub we are happy to announce #AstroTheme v2! π¨ This is a complete rewrite and comes with some major improvements to empower us and users to easily create new color palettes!

@cloud_custodian @mikecodemonkey Thanks for the shout @cloud_custodian ! As for telling @mikecodemonkey why AstroNvim is a good fit, I would say because of my favorite feature, AstroCommunity! It allows users to share and easily install plugins and even full language packs:

Feature Friday: A-Lamia in the #astronvim community has been putting AstroNvim's extensible astronvim.status API through it's paces to make some very cool custom Heirline tabbar and statusline! His custom color engine is able to support any colorscheme! π€―

We have decided that we are too excited for our new improvements in v3 to wait any longer! Today we have officially released AstroNvim v3 to our stable update channel π

@Lakhnuvi Yeah, looks like it was updated again recently to push it to May 1, 2023. Definitely sucks to have all these delays, but reassuring they aren't rushing features out the door. Everyone seems to be hard at work π
With another Neovim v0.9 delay, we have decided to move forward with the nightly release of AstroNvim v3.0 π
We will be maintaining Neovim v0.8 compatibility for now, but will drop it when Neovim v0.9 is stable.

We have been building a community driven repository for easily sharing plugin configurations! This will aim to be a completely community driven aspect of the project and are hoping to get people sharing cool plugin setups that they have in their AstroNvim.
Coming soon along v3!
Been working on a new refactor for the upcoming v3.0 release that greatly improves our internal caching and performance! Here is a comparison of performance before and after the changes. β‘
AstroNvim is officially 1 year old!!
We never would have guessed that this project would have grown as much as it has!
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the project in any way through code contributions, interacting with the community, or just using the editor β¨
Neovim v0.9 has sadly been delayed to March 1, 2023, so AstroNvim v3.0 has also been delayed.
New tentative schedule for release:
- March 1, 2023 - AstroNvim v3.0 released to Nightly
- March 8, 2023 - AstroNvim v3.0 released to Stable
AstroNvim v3.0.0 is going to be getting fold detection using nvim-ufo and better columns using the new status column feature in Neovim 0.9!
This will also have mouse support for interacting with folds, viewing diagnostics, previewing git changes, and toggling breakpoints.
AstroNvim v3.0 development is well underway with a big migration to the new lazy.nvim plugin manager
(https://t.co/o3yoSDwvWy)
Notable changes:
- Moving to lazy.nvim with its inclusive features.
- Removal of plugin-specific abstractions to make the configuration clear to users.
