Studios used enormous render farms to cut rendering time down. Even so, each frame could take hours to render.
@cptgrumpus@codylschuldt@UziCryptoo Overall, wage disparity has been increasing since the beginning of the industrial revolution with some occasional periods of leveling or stability:
Early 1800's, 1870's, 1940's through 1960's
@timpailthorpe@qikipedia Cantilevering makes this possible, but it is not why these houses were built with larger upper stories. It would have been easier to build both floors with the same perimeter.
The point was to gain more living space while keeping a smaller ground-level footprint.
@GhostOfRonaldR@codylschuldt@UziCryptoo I think we deal with the issue poorly.
However, history shows us that when a system reaches a certain level of disparity, upheaval or revolution can follow.
It's in the best interest of those who have wealth to be forward-thinking enough to understand this historical reality.
@cptgrumpus@codylschuldt@UziCryptoo In the past, the disparity between high pay and low pay jobs was much narrower. Today's world has increased wage disparity to the point that we run the risk of economic instability.
@cptgrumpus@codylschuldt@UziCryptoo If an economy wants to build long term capacity, it needs to think beyond the immediate economics. This is why a pure free market economy does not exist in the real world. Government investment, regulation and policy intervene or it will likely implode.
@GhostOfRonaldR@codylschuldt@UziCryptoo I understand this reality, but I also think society has a responsibility to step in when things are not workable for many of its citizens.
@codylschuldt@UziCryptoo Becoming an engineer requires significant educational time and expense. Consequently, they should be compensated at a higher level.
However, anyone who works at a skilled level in a specific field should be able to make a living wage.
@codylschuldt@UziCryptoo An engineer is unlikely to continue working in a place where the other jobs are not being completed. The productivity of an engineer is heavily dependent on the productivity of others.
Both an engineer and a custodian can be highly-skilled at their respective jobs.
@alex_read13@GeboMpls What is the cost of a bike or walking path compared to a roadway?
The Internet and cell phone networks are in use 24/7, even when you are not actively using your device, due to background services...unless you physically turn it off.
@sourpatchlyds@cremieuxrecueil Even if 100% of illegal immigrants under 18 were unvaccinated, that would still only account for about 25% of the people under 18 who are not vaccinated for measles.
@financedystop My first car was $75. Granted, I had to tow it out of a field and repaint it. Fortunately, the horrible engine performance was just bad gas...the car, not me. 🤣
In retrospect, it wasn't the greatest financial decision since my dad agreed to pay half of the cost of my first car.
@WoodyWoodys@LostMemeArchive While the sound effects originated in the 90's, the original 3D animation for this become common somewhere around 2005. Many of the follow-up animations are from from much later.
Admittedly, they can be pretty annoying.
@EquipePaquette@AnonymousMind27 Since plant protein density is lower than with meats, a person on a vegan diet needs more protein sources or larger portions on their plate than an omnivore.
@EquipePaquette@AnonymousMind27 People on a vegan diet (which is not me) need to be fairly informed about nutrition sources to maintain health.
Edamame or lentils are 18 grams per serving. Tempeh is usually higher than this.
Edamame and quinoa are both complete proteins, though Edamame is higher in protein.
@EquipePaquette@AnonymousMind27 @ick_real Quite a few vegan foods are high in protein. Some examples would be edamame, chickpeas, lentils, tofu, quinoa, etc.
Quinoa has the distinction of being a complete protein since it contains all of the essential amino acids.
@RCowley185R@ChrisMartzWX No. I’m simply willing to accept that evidence supports human-caused climate change more strongly than a purely natural warming scenario.
The pace of the climb in atmospheric CO₂ and global temperatures has been extremely rapid considering Earth's long climate history.
