@SpaceKoala Why need it be an SSTO? Just land a multi-stage vehicle. But gonna need an enormous amount of hardware for any crewed landing. That's a challenge I'd love to see us tackle 😎
@SpaceKoala Certainly we need more data overall, but I think the default "1g is best" is pretty reasonable given it's what we evolved in. But yeah all of these anti-space settling arguments are just complaining about engineering challenges and possible issues with little data to support.
@SpaceKoala Yeah I feel like there's a point where the diminishing returns of more data get outweighed by all these other factors you mention in the positive vs negative space.
@WLimestall@frigorifer1@JPMajor Would've been cool to keep at least a yearly cadence of interplanetary missions going in some form. Be it Moon landings, Venus/Mars flybys, even Martian moon landings would've been fascinating.
@JPMajor@GaryNicholls52 This always seems like a weird point to me tbh. Like, it's not that you're in the shadow of the moon per se... It's that your eyes are adjusted to bright light. So I'd think if you just shield your eyes for a few moments from any other light you'd start to see some stars too
@spacecoastwest@SLDelta30 Kinda weird to see continued development on Falcon launch sites when Starship is seemingly around the corner. Perhaps they'll build it in such a way as to minimize alternations needed for Starship??
@gorskon Yeah that's what he means. Negotiation with weapons. 😅
Also didn't Trump say something about Iranian unconditional surrender when this all started? 🤔 The backpedaling is fun to watch.
