Registrations are now open for my NPTEL course on Evolutionary Biology. This is a very basic introduction to the subject.
Please spread the word.

By the way, we're hiring at Biohub. Come hang out with us if you want to work on frontier AI or biology.
We have thousands of GPUs, petabytes of data (biology is increasingly an engineering problem!) and billions of cells to image!
Exciting time!🔬🔬🔬
My lab has started the week-long hands-on Quantitative Microscopy Workshop from today.
We have 10-15 graduate students from 5-6 labs of UBC Botany @UBCBotany are participating the workshop this summer.
Each of my grad students are leading at least one session on your expertise area.

This mesmerizing timelapse captures the nonstop motion inside an animal cell. Moving red/orange streaks are the growing ends of microtubules, tiny “highways” that move proteins & other molecules within the cell.

Bacteria move around using a molecular machine called the flagellar motor that rotates faster than the flywheel of a race car engine and switches directions in an instant. After 50 yrs, scientists have finally figured out how it works. “My lifelong quest is now fulfilled.” Link⤵️
