I understand the reasoning for the way it is now being an indicator of something being refreshed loot, but it makes it far more confusing for new players. I'm currently teaching a new player the game, and it's added a level of confusion.

i wish that the symbol in the top left of all the weapons wasn't rendered useless by this update. it would've been nice for more casual/returning players to have it changed to correspond to the source of the gun, rather than all being the same, now that seasons are irrelevant

for a game that is now a static experience, decreasing reliance on third party tools seems like a good idea, and as of current there isn't any way to know where to get the new loot without them, unless the weapon happens to be one that's attunable.
